Yes the apache has a 5 speed gear box....and a slick one at tht too...
But i have voted for the cbz xtreme...while looks being subjective,,i loved it...plus the icing on the cake is its got the same uniorn engine now pumping out 14 odd bhp...The highest of the lot...plus handling to match....but its priced higher than teh other i believe....
The best value for money would be the new pulsar 150,..
Digi speedo..yes u read right..all new sharp rear panels..led tail lights...looks real cool...
but for us performance enthusiasts...CBZ EXTREME it is...

apache for me.. I am a very much satisfied owner of Apache for the last 7 months.. I have done 8300 kms so far in my apache.. It is dam good for long rides, hightway crusing and corner cutting.. It has got excellent pickup, head tunnung style, great engine response(best in its class) and great milage.. I m getting constant 57km/ltr from my apache.. Overall apache is an excellent package..

My opinions...

1. Pulsar 150 UG3... (I own a p180, not 150)... But the new P150 rocks!!! Specially with upped power to 14 bhp, new 1 down 4 up gearshift, digital speedo and backlit insruments)

2. Unicorn;- The smoothest bike i've rode (except the gladiator)... But too smooth and silent for a little fun... Power got to be upped a little too...

3. CBZ exreme... Didnt like the looks... Specially the headlamps... havent yet had a ride... In fact, havent seen one out of the showroom... So... I wont comment...

4. Apache;- Got outdated with 2 months... looks are nothing compared to extreme and p150 UG3... And the engine feels like its lifted out of a low-revving MUV... (I've rode it many times)

5. HH acheiver:- Cant understand... HH is playing like Maruti these days... Old bike, trusted engine... New graphics... And they call it an all new bike... (Between... HH launched 2 new bikes 2 days back... Anybody knew??? New CD dawn and Cd deluxe with improved graphics )

For me its the new Pulsar 150... comes with an updated powerplant bored to 149 cc with 14 bhp of power output, digital dash, a gas charged rear suspension that actually works unline Apache.

UG = Upgrade, UG2 was the second major upgrade offering and now UG3 the third upgrade offering...

Thanks gr8guzzler

And yeah, my vote too for the Pulsar. With the Digitial Speedo and LED tail lights and finally the eone down 4 up transmission, it simply blows every other bike away.....

new pulsar 150 is not 14bhp. It is 14.09 PS .. PS means HP(Horse Power). The actual power of new pulsar is in the range of 13.7- 13.8 Bhp. Check out bajaj's website. They were using "bhp" for pulsar 180 and "ps" for pulsar 150. It is bajaj's another marketing gimmick. More over in new pulsar 150 it's weight is incresed. So the incresed power not doing any noticable perfomance increse. The power to weight ratio of apache is still best in its class. It is 103.xx ps/ton . for new pulsar it is 100.xx ps/ton.. More over apache is running with 18 inch back tyre and pulsar with 17 inch tyre. So the top end and bhp produced at the back tyre will be more for apache. In overdrive's latest shootout apache has got beat top speed 112.4 km/hr. for pulsar it is 111.0 km/hr. Also the milage of apache is 4km higher than the new pulsar. The incresed power, weight and cc has decresed the milage of new pulsar. Also the incresed weight reduced the top end by little margin. 111.1 km/hr(old pulsar v2) to 111.0 km/hr(new UG3).

i just love P150 UG3...its not only the digital Speedo but the whole bike..rides very well..esp on bad roads..
those gas shocks feel stiff on good roads and soft on bad..that's one thing no HH would be able to do..
Also they have put so much electronics in it, which satisfy the comp engg (read as the geek) in me.

SO looks good, performs well and cheap spares...

Would you care to explain... How? I thought top speed was dependent on gearing. Going by your logic trucks should have better topend than cars simply because they have bigger tyres.

Please dont give me the overdrive rant here, we all know how good (or bad) overdrive is?

Now some hard facts: The rear suspension on Apache don't work, even the oiled one's are better and they are now where near pulsar's rear suspension.
Shortwheelbase coupled with that ultra stiff rear suspension will make it very sharp in city traffic but i shudder to think of long distance or highway cruising and resulting stability(rather instability).
The vibrations over 5k+ rpm are a concern.

In my opinion, the Apache suddenly has started to look outdated in front of the competition.
CBZ-Xtreme and Pulsar 150 are very closely matched, Apache is down and out already till TVS comes up with some modification.

I am surprised as to how CBZ xtreme has got lesser votes than unicorn, coz its got the same unicorn engine in a better looking package. Thats why i think these type of polls dont make any sense... to each one its own, or is it the mono at the back

Undoubtedly the pulsar is the king of 150 cc bikes. Whatver the competition does, they just dont seem to capture the appeal, charisma and extreme fervor created by Pulsar since its release.

Especially now the new pulsar with digital meter, new gear shift and nifty rear lamps...is an outstanding looker

Please get your facts right before posting...

Its 13. 9 bhp for the new P150... Which gives it a power to weight ratio of 102.85 ps/ton compared to 103.04 ps/ton for the apache... (Still your clain is right partially)

Since apache is running 18 inch tyres, top- speed will be increased, but acceleration will be decreased compared to the 17 inchers... (Check the figures, pulsar acceleration figures given in OD are much better than Apache... 0-100 in 19.47 for pulsar, and 21.84 for apache...)

Since you have mentioned OVERDRIVE shoot- out... HAve to call You a real liar man... The shoot out figures are given on page number 112... Pulsar has got 30.15 kmpl compared to 30.07 kmpl for apache... (How did you claim apache got 4 kmpl more???)

Let me quote What they say about apache's performance in last lap... "As it turned out, the TVS want fasnt enough to make the last loop" Missed an entire loop out of 12 loops... Sure it was very fast...

(The figures you are refering to might the ones one page 117... Which are allover figures and tech specs... And not the shoot out chart...)

Cant belive apache got so outdated within a year of its launch...
