Wow the Duke looks even now tempting in white. Can't wait to exchange my classic 350 for this beauty. Visited KTM today and they are accepting bookings but didn't have a tentative date when the first batch will arrive, they also did not have a display bike in white.

Should I wait for a couple of batches to sort out the niggles or should I take the plunge is the question running in my mind.

I know the color has been there in the international markets from the time of launch but I am not very sure the same quality standards apply to our locally sold bikes as well.

I took a test ride of the 2018 white D390 yesterday. The engine, clutch action, throttle are all much smoother than my first gen. The seat is definitely more comfortable. The overall build quality also looks better.
But I felt something missing - the bike somehow seems tamer. Maybe the lack of harshness is masking the explosive power.
Also I did not feel it to be as chuckable as my first gen.

Per the salesguy, 2018 comes with just some fixes and minor improvements over the 2017 and nothing major. The color quality is top notch!

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

I thought odo resets were sorted in the 2018 Duke, a colleague's friend brought one recently, the white colored one and his console also crashed and his ODO went back by 50 kms. It has been more than a year since the new model was launched and the manufacture has no interest in solving the issues. So don't entirely believe what the sales guys say.

Would you by any chance know if this crash happened after phone sync via Bluetooth?

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

My White Duke 390 was delivered around the 10th of February. I will be putting up an ownership review soon. But there are two things which are troubling me; one the mirrors become loose and start swaying when ridden at high speeds. Even after I tighten the nut holding it, another high speed ride gets them loose again.

Additionally the TFT screen goes blank and then reboots by itself when it is connected to my iPhone via Bluetooth. When it comes back, all the controls become non responsive although the display of speed, kilometres, fuel, rpm etc is okay

I haven’t checked closely to see if the odo has gone back though and it is worrying me a bit

Congrats Rahul. Do invest in a good riding gear.

This is a known issue with 2017 Dukes. I am surprised that it's been one year and still KTM has not bothered to fix these software glitches. For the time being, I I advise you to refrain yourself from connecting via bluetooth. furthermore, could you please confirm the software version your bike is on Latest one is V41(I guess yours must be on V39). These dealers don't bother to update the software before delivering the bike.

Waiting for a full ownership review👍🏼

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

Hey guys, not sure whether this is the right thread, but here's some info I would like to share which could come handy for you during similar situations and save your time.

I own a Duke 250 and yesterday while crossing a traffic junction in Bangalore, I was perpendicularly hit by a speeding Pulsar which came out from a blind spot even though his signal was red. The impact was real hard on my moving front wheel but I managed to hold my bike upright and it did not fall down. Soon after this, my bike did not start. I tried multiple times to turn off and on again, but with no luck. Once the ignition key and switch were turned on, all the required things would light up normal on the meter console but the fuel pump sound wouldn't come. I was lucky that this happened right in front of a KTM showroom and I managed to push it there. The mechanic there was very empathetic and patiently checked the fuel pump electricals, all the fuses in the fuse box, spark plug, etc. Everything was fine but my engine wouldn't crank.

After an hour's research it was found that the roll-over sensor had to be reset. For those who didn't know, this sensor comes in all KTM bikes as a safety feature which turns off the ignition and fuel supply whenever the bike falls down, to prevent any acceleration or fire. When the Pulsar hit my bike, due to the impact this sensor got disturbed and it turned off the fuel pump even though my bike did not fall down. Once identified, this was fixed within seconds and my bike was up and running again

Thank you WoF. Curious as to what exactly did they do in the roll over sensor reset. Did they disconnect the battery and then install or they just undid and put back the RS connector and it solved the issue.

Cheers!

They just undid and reconnected the sensor which solved the issue.

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

Putting it here because the Duke 250 thread was closed...

BS6 Duke 250 price hike rumoured to be only 4-5k from BS4 version... New colour also seen.

Source: https://www.autocarindia.com/bike-ne...-2-lakh-415713

KTM dealers have begun accepting bookings for the BS6-compliant 2020 KTM 250 Duke at Rs 5,000. These dealers are suggesting that the new model will cost only Rs 4,000 more than the outgoing BS4 model, which means, it’ll have an ex-showroom price of Rs 2 lakh and an on road cost of around Rs 2.35 lakh (depending on the state).

The small price hike doesn’t come as a surprise as the 250 Duke was already a fuel-injected model. KTM must only have had to make changes to the catalytic converter of the exhaust system and also the map. However, the images dealers have sent to us suggest that the BS6-compliant model will get a new silver colour, along with revised graphics. It won’t be long before KTM sends out official information, which is when we can confirm all of the technical and cosmetic changes.

Once the information is sent out by the bike maker, the 250 Duke will officially become the second KTM to become BS6-compliant; the first one was the KTM 390 Adventure that was launched a few days ago. Interestingly, KTM is also readying the BS6-compliant 390 Duke and it's going to come with a quickshifter as standard.

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

Anyone used the Apollo Alpha H1 tyres on Duke? Auto magazine reviews are of good opinion. But I would like to hear a long term review from fellow riders. I have Duke 200. Is Alpha H1 an overkill for 200? Otherwise, my choice would be the MRF that comes with the bike from factory. Any comments much appreciated.
