+1 //M and FZ25 was my first choice from the day I sold my FZ16.

The lacklustre attitude from the showroom folks, unsure delivery time and lethargic launch by the Yamaha themselves.

Somehow, not getting the right vibes for the FZ25!!

Ah jetsetgo08, you post came as a life saver

I want to stay as far away as possible from Bajaj, but want to try the RTR200 first. I particularly love the Matte Red shade.

I may still give the FZ25 another shot sometime this week, else I may end up with the RTR after all.

OTR Bangalore is 2.67 Lakhs and is 2.75 OTR with a 3-year insurance. Info is from KTM Indiranagar and Whitefield.

Not sure if you have already read this review but here is the link for a review on t-bhp by one of the members of the RTR200 - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...ts-tourer.html

Should help answer any queries that you might have before/during/after test ride and know what to expect from the bike.

Also, if this is a measure of things to come I"ve reasons to believe that even Duke 390 would hover around the same mark.

If you are only going to be needing a bike for city commutes, as an RC390 owner let me tell you that you will get the most fun out of a Duke200 check with dealers if they have old 2016 stock remaining and haggle a discount with immediate delivery. The looks may not appeal but the sheer light weight and chuckability of this machine with the more relaxed 200 motor will have you sitting at the red line all day long with a huge smile plastered on your face. Simply take it from me; nothing absolutely nothing is as fun and easy to live with

If the ergonomics are a huge damper then perhaps look into the Yamaha FZ25 or a P200NS.

If you want to know exactly how much of a "biker" you might become, rent a 150cc like an FZ16 for a month. That is what I did late in 2015. I was a car guy all my life. I didn't know how to ride nor did I care for it just thought of buying myself one for my daily college commute and saving money on fuel. After riding the rental FZ16 for a month, my requirement for a bike leaped from a basic gixxer150 to an RC390. I look forward to riding it nearly every occasion I get. I think I'll park my butt in a car once I grow old and unfit. So check it out for all you know you might soon want a powerful bike for those highway blasts. Trust me 0-100 in 5 seconds or less, sticky metzelers, a nice highway, leather jacket and good helmet to keep you from the elements and you are set. No GT tdi or Kizashi can ever compare with biking you really need to figure out exactly what you want, if you're unsure, don't buy. Find out and then book as per your passion and requirements. 2 wheeler riding is a dance. Whether it is an sr150 scooter, 150, 250 or 390cc bike, naked, sport tourer or supersport, figure out who youd like your dance partner to be.

From your words, I'd say cancel the 250 and book the 200. Trust me when I say this, there's no other bike in India which is as much fun in city conditions than the Duke 200.

Power delivery is frantic and wicked. It won't just beg you but will FORCE you to redline it in every gear and you'll be grinning ear to ear. Every empty space will become a guilty pleasure.

Duke 390 and others, even though they are more powerful, they are also linear and have power towards the upper rev range. For highways, 390 is a different beast altogether and 200 doesn't even come close.

But if city riding is your preference, go with the Duke 200 and NEED will become WANT.

Man, the more I see videos of the 250 and the new 390, the more I want to get this bike (390) as a secondary throw around in the city and shorter mountain commutes.

It just feels ridiculous after throwing 8 lakhs on the versys though.

Somebody convince me either ways please.

One can never have too many bikes

I don't blame you. The new Katooms are just plain stunning. Definitely warrants a test ride

+1 to Urban Nomad.

After riding the older D390 (a friends) quite regularly, I feel it gives great riding pleasure at the price point like the old RX 100. If the new version comes out to be a little smoother and since it is still 149 kgs only, it should also be a blast. If you are from the RX era and have good memories of that time - buy it and go back in time regularly .

Cheers

To answer another question , the adventure version of the 390 would be my preferred go-anywhere katana.

Two years away man. And the new 390 just looks so bloody nimble. And will probably cost a heck less to run than the versys.

Or I could keep aside the 2 lakhs to run the versys.

Haha.

If you spend the 2 lakhs on Versys, its gone! In a puff of smoke ..... literally

Whereas if you were to spend 2 lakh on the Duke, it'll still have a fair bit of residual value whenever you will sell it

Next question

So what are you saying, Sell the versys and get the new duke? Coz I will need to spend that much on the versys anyway. Fricking chain sprocket kit cost 15 grand. Unbelievable.

Re: 2017 KTM 390 Duke, 250 Duke and 200 Duke launched in India

So the rear mudguard makes and appearance on the Duke 390. During the launch last week it did not sport one.
So that's one thing that most owners will get rid off. Can't wait to read/view proper ride impressions of the bike.

Regards
