Indeed! Phenomenal, considering the attitude of most bike manufacturers who side with the dealerships instead of the customers and those who sell in such good numbers that they don't really care if a customer has a bad experience with a dealership or not. Adyar Chennai 1st April 2017.

The first batch of Duke 250 and 390 seems to have come in Jai Bajaj Adyar. Saw at least three 390s and 3 250s in the service centre probably for PDI. Was too dark, but turned the keys to see the beautiful displays. Showed 1.7 Kms run at best and had zero fuel. So could not start and experience the exhaust note.

The moment i test drive the new 390, trust me i would plonk the cheque immediately on it. The good thing was the test drive bike is still not available in the showroom.

I'm no guru but I'm inclined to agree with you on this one. I've ridden previous gen D390 for fairly decent kilometers and the only decent comparo to that one is the RD350 IMHO. Now, when I took a short test ride of 2017 D390 from a friend last week, mind you this was nothing short of great, but it just doesn't overwhelm you enough the way earlier D390 did. Admittedly, the 2017 D390 was in run-in so I didn't push it with my friend/owner on the pillion seat. I'm myself considering to put my money on a well maintained used D390 as second bike for quick short spins

I went to ktm Whitefield yesterday in bangalore, they had the display bikes, switched it on and saw the TFT display it looked awesome. Then I was allowed to crank the engine too, it sounded beautiful. So so much better then the previous one.

Test drive would be available from mid of week, and she promised delivery by end of month.

Lucky you for having taken a spin on the bike. For an inexperienced rider like me, would the new Duke 390 be better?

How would you rate the behavior of Old Vs New in stop and go traffic?

I'm still waiting to get a test drive. I'm a 6 feet and 95 kg giant so need to ride it for a good distance to confirm the buy. By the way, this is my first post and I'm glad it's related to a bike.

I'd say there is no substitute for test rides, especially the decently long ones. No one can decide it for you better then yourself. Most of us can only advice based on their experience.
From whatever little experience i have on both the dukes, I'd say new D390 is much well behaved & controlled (read better traffic manners) so that's a boon for new riders. Plus it comes with lots of other bells & whistles (Display console ) and looks way better then earlier generation of D390 to my eyes at least. So the mind over heart decision would be in favour of new D390.

Does anyone know when the deliveries of the 2017 D390 will commence? I have booked the bike but my dealer in Bangalore states they have not received RTO clearance to register these bikes yet. Has anyone heard of this ?

Yup, thats what I am hearing from the dealers too. They are saying April End for deliveries now.

There are a bunch of preset excuses which the showroom guys spew out depending upon their mood. I have heard excuses like RTO approval pending, production not yet started, the unavailability of new fork seals resulting in delay of deliveries. Extremely fed up of the false info which is being fed by the showroom guys. There is no concrete or transparent response from the dealerships in Bangalore.

Just got off the call with KTM Indira Nagar, the OTR cost after tax hike is 2,83,242 rupees.

Delivery is expected to start by next week, and test drive vehicle is expected by Weekend.

He told me approximate waiting period of 3 Months.
