Bike looks great. Those bar end mirrors look sweet. Fit and finish seems top notch. Where did you procure them and get them fitted?

Thank you MadRasTan4986.

Got these from 'Thirumala Pitstop', near JC Road. These are the metallic ones, are priced a bit more but have much better quality than the plastic ones.

Good choice. Has really added some spice to the design with these mirrors.

Looks good on such street fighter designs as that of the FZ.

Does anyone know how to decode the Yamaha VIN number. Will be really helpful if current owners can chip in with this information. Thanks in advance.

I could not find any resource which accurately decodes YMI VIN, had to rely on the scribbles on the bike to guesstimate the manufacturing month. I bought in Oct , it was manufactured in Aug. The RC finally confirmed it

Hi Indivic. Could you let me know how you deciphered it? I have a fair idea. But unsure on the same.

Disclaimer : It might not be accurate, I used a combination of car VIN decoding and some reading up
The VIN is 17 characters as per ISO 3779, read from left to right

1-3- WMI
4-9 - VDS
10-17 - VIS

From my bike
WMI
1st-3rd - ME1- This is the WMI for India Yamaha Motor as per - http://www.bis.org.in/sf/wmi_master.pdf

VDS section

4th - Could not find out
5th - Seems to manufacturing month (mine was G - August)
6th - Could not find out
7th - Could not find out
8th - Engine type if there are more than 1 engine for a vehicle
9th - Check digit for VIN

VIS section
10th - Model Year H - 2017
11-17 - 9999999

Hope this helps.

Re: My White Japanese X-2 : The Yamaha FZ25

Its funny that I have been a reader of this forum for many years and have followed it ardently. But I have always looked at it as a forum for 4-wheelers, so never bothered to look here for 2-wheelers.

I recently picked up the FZ25. It has been 20 years since I last had a bike (the legendary RD350) and wanted to get back to biking. But wanted to start with something easy before moving on to the bigger bikes. Also had to consider my diminutive physical proportions .

While my bike has only done 200km so far (it is only a couple of weeks old). I am looking at raising the handlebars for a more comfortable position for my short reach. I have been searching online and haven't found a satisfactory record of someone who has done this.

Has anyone tried this in Bangalore? The showroom will not do it with a standard answer of "not possible". While I understand that the length of the wires will be a challenge, I feel with a bit of rerouting, one can still put in a handlebar riser. Does anyone know of a reliable place in Bangalore where this can be done?

Thanks in advance.

If you don't mind:- what is your inseam, and can you flatfoot the bike?

I haven't checked my inseam length :-)

I cannot flatfoot my bike on both sides. In fact there aren't many bikes apart from some of the low slung cruisers where I can flatfoot on both sides.

I am curious to know why you asked this question?

There are many Dominar owners who have been doing similar mods in Bangalore. I believe Carbon racing is one of the more popular local shops. They have an FB page, and you can probably leave a query there.

Or try to get in touch with any of the Dominar owners in Bangalore.

Two reasons:-
I think that 'inseam required to flatfoot' is a more meaningful metric compared to seat height, esp in India. Your answer would have been a starting point.
Your opinion on ease of use of various bikes for city use, keeping in mind this criteria.
