Honda XRE spotted on the shop floor. Getting ready for launch. Would any one here have a tentative date and price?

I hear there is a post on Rushlane but we got the factory post.

Please chip in with more news here.
Has your source really spotted this on a shop floor in India? Am doubtful of this one making it given Honda's history of never meeting our expectations of their line up. I couldnt find clarity if this being made in Thailand so unless they plan to manufacture this in India, CKD from Brazil sounds improbable.
Why not just launch the CB500 twins?? And, why launch a new product and let an establish product like the CBR250 die a painful death? Honda's 2 wheeler strategy seems to be either mass market (Activa / Hornet 160) or top end (Africa Twin / Fireblade). There seems to be no middle ground to take on the Kwackers.

Rumours are also about Honda launching a faired version of the Hornet 160 since the faired version of the Gixxer seems to be doing decent numbers and has no competition yet.

Re: Honda XRE300 caught! Launch soon

Package wise it all looks good...but I doubt they will be able to launch it at a competitive price here with a 300cc engine.
Hence they could use the motor from a Hornet 160 and use the XRE frame to keep costs low or they might use the 190cc motor from the CB190 which has been launched in China/ Latin America

* BTW the CB190 looks great

Re: Honda XRE300 caught! Launch soon

As this segment seems ready to heat up in the future, Yamaha should consider bringing Lander 250. which was spotted testing in India in 2015 according to some auto websites. It uses the same engine as FZ25 that should help them price it lower than XRE.

I cannot agree more. Honda has tons of fantastic bikes like the aforementioned CB500 trio and moving up a bit the 700 trio. With CKD from Thailand, they can be priced in 5 lakh to 7 lakh range.
However Honda seems to be interested only in selling Activa and nothing else.

XRE300 looks good on paper but going by general Honda pricing, I expect them to launch this at 4 lakh price point making it dead on arrival.

Honda puts in Royal Enfield rival plans on hold - Source

This is exactly the reason why i don't believe in the sound bytes esp. when it comes to Honda & Yamaha.

Amen. 860 mm isn't much if you actually think about it. Even in the picture, the seat height doesn't look much. Also, at 150 kilos the bike is light! the Dominar and the Himalayan weigh over 180 kgs.

Though considering practicality, there is a chance that the bike may not do well in the Indian market. My reason being the unfamiliarity of the segment. As someone here rightly mentioned the arrival of Duke 390 adventure, GS 310 and others, those somehow can be viewed as a road-bike as well. The XRE on the other hand cannot since it seems like a dedicated off-roader.

The model available in Brazil comes with Combined ABS, which avoids wheel locking, distributes the grip force and offers more safety in emergency braking.

+1

Oh wait! Once Honda announces the price, that will be the killer.

Typical of Honda to overprice and then do a price correction.

Re: Honda XRE300 caught! Launch soon

Honda has never really cared about competing with the likes of Royal Enfield, I don't see why they should start now.

It's sad, really, because they have some amazing bikes they sell all over the world (see: the Honda Rebel) but over here they can't be bothered to look outside the commuter segment.

I wouldn't hold my breath in anticipation.

XRE300 has resurfaced!

Powering the Honda XRE 300 is a 291.6 cc single-cylinder, DOHC, air-cooled motor that is capable of generating 26 hp of peak power and 27 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It gets disc brakes at both ends along with Dual-channel ABS as standard. When viewed head-on, it comes off as handsome. Especially when compared to the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The silver finish on the engine case and telescopic suspension give out retro vibes. It gets the same set of tyres as found on Xpulse 200 which are 90/90-21 at front and 120/80-18 at the back. Honda XRE 300 ADV is also capable of running on Ethanol fuel. Dubbed as FlexOne tech, XRE 300 is flex-fuel ready.

The uncropped picture has two motorcycles in the background - a BMW GS310 and a KTM Adventure.

Also, the gentlemen are clearly wearing TVS's factory attire.

Finally, it was reported that the picture was clicked in / near Hosur.

Long story short, this is just TVS doing bench marking. Lets not get our hopes high for no reason.

I think 2 wheeler enthusiasts in T-BHP have had enough of Honda 2 wheeler related speculations. We know by now, that Honda is interested in selling either Activa(E-Activa being the next big thing) or Marque Products like Africa Twin on other end of the spectrum. There simply isn't anything between these 2 products that can interest an average Joe.

Interesting. But what is TVS launching in this genre?!

Hmm. Maybe their version of the 310GS platform? BMW bummed the Apache 310RR, so its now TVS's turn to receive. Everybody seems to be doing small dualsports these days (Xpulse, Himalayan...).

TVS is only marginally better than Honda - can do a lot but won't. So many promising concepts that remained a concept.

I doubt if TVS is bench marking against their ADV - it seems unlikely that they will build something of their own grounds up. I feel they are going to get the GS310 at some point to rebadge as a TVS. Could this be more like an exploration of the small yet serious machines to see what could they improve / offer in addition on their own GS310 based ADV?

Re: Honda XRE300 caught! Launch soon

Honda has showcased the flex fuel version of the XRE 300 at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023, in the ethanol pavilion. Seems, it was Honda testing the bike after all, nothing to do with TVS.

The bike is the Brazilian version capable of running E20 to E85 ethanol mix. Honda might be testing the Flex fuel engine under the Indian conditions. A pic from Auto Expo 2023.
