Thanks! By the way it is not 42 years story I am just 30 the bike was near 42000 km when i bought it.

Cheers mate. 2500 kms in 23 days that translates to 125 kms a day, thats crazy stuff sir. I have a tbts 350 2014 model and i am ashamed to say that it has only run 7500kms. Will surely check out your channel.

How is the suspension of the Duke? How does it handle bad roads. I am in two minds whether should I stick to my tbts 350 or to buy a new bike that's easy to handle and nimble.

Yes, i think stator coil needs to be replaced. But it happens very rarely though and I dont experience any symptoms of a weak battery.

If you are after ride quality, you should hold on to your TBTS. While duke 390 is in a completely different league when it comes to performance and handling, it is not as comfortable as the TBTS on bad roads.

Trust me mate. Get it checked and changed ASAP. You don't want to get stranded in an area with no phone coverage on a Sunday like i found out

Got it checked at the SVC. They checked the stator and told me it was good. Multimeter readings were also normal. I also read pre 2015 models had a defective speedo console which has nothing to do with stator.

I guess I may also have to find it the hard way like you, but then the svc will be facing hell.

Stator coil and battery were good. The ktm svc removed the accessory relay that wasnt being used. Now the intermittent zero doesnt happen.

Accessory relay? The reason I am asking this is because this is totally a new to me. What was actually removed, did you happen to see what exactly was removed? Or any idea as to how it looked?

Just an additional relay which is basically the 4 or 5 pin one may be the previous owner added for some accessories. Fitting accessories is an art and many road side electricians do it like they dont care.

Do it with care its a wonderful way to get all your addons.

4000 km up in 70 days since purchase 57 km per day average.

I now have a fair idea about KTMs. They may not be as trouble free as a Honda, but they make you fall in love with them more and more with every minor niggle. By the way, tyre nearing the end of its life. Any suggestions? I am happy with Michelin PSR, but are they available in 160 sections? And will it be compatible?

Small niggles I have faced so far, which have been rectified:
1. Key slot loosening
2. Intermittent 0 on speedo

Yet to be rectified:
1. Slight oil leak near oil filter
2. Small crack on airbox (which i have taped as a temporary fix)

Anyways, once on the saddle, the 390 makes me forget all these small issues.

Been a while since i updated this thread.

Odo: 46,800 km
You could tell that i havent used the 390 much. Reason: Bald tyres! The michelin pilot street radials that were already on the bike was 32000 km old!!! I came to know about it from the previous owner and i was shocked. I couldnt make up my mind to ride with bald tyres.

Tyre choices:
Michelin PSR
Pirelli Diablo Rosso II

Michelin PSR I trust them with my life because I had quite a lot of fun on PSR on my CBR 250R. I also liked Pirelli as it was the best i had on my ZMR, the Pirelli Sport Demon! Finalised on Michelin PSRs as I found it superb on my CBR250R. It still looked and felt new even after 15000 km of usage on my CBR. Michelin radials are extremely long lasting. 25-30k km is easy peasy!

Speed Rating : 210 kmph

Availability: Front 110/70 R17 was easily available at Trichy.
Rear 150/60 R17, no one seemed to have Michelin Radials. All were continentals/MRFs. I did not want to compromise on grip as I push it hard while riding.

I was not in a mood to risk buying in amazon/flipkart as i was skeptical of their originality. So i visited Michelin India official site and it directed to "Trails of India" site. Placed order, It took 15 days for it to reach me.

But i would strongly recommend that site. Tyre came packed in two layers of bubble wrap, no chance for damage!


Cost: Rear 6045 + Front 4400
Labour at KTM ASC: 600

Now that my darling has new wheels, I wil start using it as daily driver. My kwid and Ciaz will be put to complete rest.

Cant wait to clock 50,000 km on the odo
