TVS Motor introduces Sync Brake System in Wego and Jupiter

TVS Motor has introduced its new Sync Brake System (SBS) technology on two of its gearless scooters - Wego and Jupiter. All variants of the two scooters are now equipped with this new technology.

The Sync Brake System essentially provides appropriate proportioning of braking power to the front and rear wheels. As a result, even if the rider pulls just the rear brake lever, the front brakes are applied automatically. The company claims that this can help in distributing the braking power evenly, thus making the braking more controllable and effective.

The SBS technology works on a relay lever that is responsible for co-applying brakes in quick succession. The input force applied on the brake lever is distributed to both wheels through a control mechanism called THE MULTIPLIER, which avoids any division in braking force due to the distribution. TVS also claims that, in addition to enhancing rider safety, the SBS technology can also help in improving the life of tyres and brake liners.

Manufacturers like Honda and Hero are already offering similar technologies in their scooter range, under the Combi-Braking System (CBS) and Integrated Braking System (IBS) names, respectively.

Re: TVS Motor introduces Sync Brake System in Wego and Jupiter

This is good, especially for newbie riders and emergency braking situations.

However, how reliable are these combined systems when the brakes are unevenly worn out, or other such situations?

Re: TVS Motor introduces Sync Brake System in Wego and Jupiter

Can someone who rides these machines clarify on these points.

If brake force is optimally distributed to Front and Back then whats the need for 2 levers? Can we just have 1 lever on the left side?
Does the brake distribution ration change based on which lever the rider has pulled? Like biased to Rear in case of left brake ?

I'm guessing it's something like a brake balance bar:

Re: TVS Motor introduces Sync Brake System in Wego and Jupiter

Can someone confirm if this sync brake system is available on disc brake variants of Jupiter and Wego. A nearby dealer denies SBS on disc brake variants. Also colour variants are limited to just two on ZX disc variants of Jupiter.

Surprised to see this, my wife bought a Jupiter in March, and it already has "sync braking".

The lever on the right side operates the front brakes ALONE.
The lever on the left side operates the front as well as rear in a predefined ratio of force split

SBS / CBS / IBS is applicable on either All drum or all disc configuration only. Combination of disc and drum is little complicated and generally manufacturers don't go for the same.

Hardly any more complicated than a disc/ disc setup. Requires one extra mechanical linkage for the rear drum.
Main reason I think is incremental cost (to benefit): Rear M/C, 3 pot caliper in front etc, and yet a rear drum.

Mechanical linkage from where? Front being a disc brake with hydraulic circuit, it is little complicated to get a mechanical linkage for the rear drum.

Makes sense since most of the riders do not use the front brakes at all and use just the rear brake lever.

I wonder if HMSI will find this to be a direct ripoff of their CBS system and maybe take TVS to court much like how Bajaj did with the Dual spark ignition system case that ruled in their favor.

Rear also applies front. Not the other way around. And only slightly more complex to implement on a front disc/ rear drum setup than on a disc/ disc setup.

Any bike (whether drum/ drum or disc/ disc) where application of front brakes also apply the rear brakes?
