I would also keep it ON on purpose, but not in the short city rides. It does not go well with the battery.:Frustrati

I have motul C1 and C2 for the chain cleaning and lubing purpose. So far so good.:)

₹3481 quote was for one year. For motorcycle insurance, it could be 1, 2 or 3 years as decided by the customer.

Keeping CC in the loop is a good idea if the dealer is not so cooperative. No need to cancel the booking. You will get the bike for sure as the CC is involved. Before taking insurance, verify the invoice chassis number with the one on your allotted bike.

Thanks for the ownership report and feedback on LUHA automotive, Calicut. I have took a standard 350 on last week from LUHA and the delivery experience was very nice. The sales officer Afsal was super cooperative.

Did a short 120 km ride to Lakkidi Viewpoint today morning. Left at 6.15 am and reached back at 9 am. Being a Sunday and Vishu, traffic was very less.

It was a joy to ride due to the good roads and cool weather. Completed 7800 kms at the end of the ride.

I have a Thunderbird 350 run in about 10000kms. Lately there is a clicking sound in the engine after the bike has run about 20 to 30 kms i.e. in a hit engine. The sound is pronounced at idling and mutes above 2500 rpm. Not continuous, it comes and goes. Mileage fine and so is the power delivery. Can anyone help me identify the source so that I can convince the service center guys to look into it? Trying to attach a audio file of the noise. tb sound.rar

Sorry mate, can't help with the issue. I have just 1 year limited experience with the bullet. Maybe more experienced ones here can find a solution.

Tappet clearance is out of spec, but the UCE's come with a hydraulic adjuster which should ideally auto-compensate so start with having them and their oil circulation inspected.

Due to the impending fuel price hike, decided to fill up today. This was the first fill up after the oil change at the 1 year paid service.

Got the best ever mileage of 44.84 kmpl .

Due to the rains, my Electra has been used rarely during the months of June, July and August. For the last 1.5 months, put some decent miles on the odo. Two days ago reached the much awaited first milestone.

I had changed the headlamp bulb to OSRAM 35/35W, when the stock one stopped working after 8.5k kms. Could be due to "always on" feature.

Found and implemented a way around this by connecting low beam only to the power supply. So the headlamp will be off while on high beam and will be turned on once I switch to low beam. The new bulb's low beam range is fairly longer than the stock ones.

Meanwhile, the Electra's mileage is holding up at a constant level for the last three tank fulls. clap:

I will be switching to Motul engine oil shortly. I will update the thread once I put some decent miles with the new engine oil.

The 10k figure always gives me mixed feeling's because once you reach it you realize that the next milestone is light-years away! :D

Don't blame the AHO feature, I've been running AHO from 2011 and am yet to face premature headlight blow-out due to having my HL's on all the time provided I'm using a quality bulb. The stock BA20D from 'Vimal' barely lasted a few months, but the HS1 OSRAM's I have plonked in have been on duty for a while now and all seems to be going well.

Next time try to source the 45/40 HS1 from OSRAM, they're available on Amazon, bang for the buck considering its an upgrade that doesn't require going for an independent harness.

This is not a good idea for many reasons and do not consider double timing a lead as it would fry your wiring. So it would be best if you let it remain as stock, and even if say you were to replace a bulb a year it is still not much considering the safety AHO offers.

My greatest fear about motorcycling is having someone run me over and give the excuse that they didn't see me coming, hence from day one of motorcycling the headlight have been ON.

And if you're worried about the battery then fret not, you could get a multi-meter and see for yourself, the RE comes with a 3 phase stator, so actually having the headlight on ensures your battery lasts longer as staying static for long is what kills the battery.

Motul 3000 4T Plus is available at a little over 300 per liter for the 2.5L pack on Amazon, in the mean while Shell AX5/HX3 20W50 is available for roughly 250~280 per liter for 1L packs.

Do give both a try when you get the chance.

Thanks for the suggestions. Glad to know that HS1 has such good life (mine is the same, but with 35W). I have already bought the oil recommend by you. Let's see how it goes.

Regarding AHO, I wanted the headlamps off when I switch on the ignition. Also, I am used to work with engine kill switch at the signals. I do keep it on once the engine is running (not for short runs though). This adjustment was only to use while the engine is off.

What I did was to exchange the low and high beam female connectors and connect the same female connector assembly in the inverted position. So that the filament meant for low and high will be powered as such. But, due to the inverted connection, the high beam filament is disconnected. Hence the wiring stays stock.

Did a small round trip from Thrissur to Munnar yesterday. Total distance covered was 375 km.

After riding about 500 km with the new engine oil, I feel that the vibrations and engine heat have reduced significantly. The mirrors are a lot more functional now due to less vibrations. Legs are not feeling the heat as earlier. The bullet is a lot more smooth now. I realize how pathetic was the old RE liquid gun earlier.

Awesome ride, Munnar seems to be closer to TSR than Kollam, last time I recall doing a round trip was on the Bajaj Discover 100 4G to Munnar and back the total distance covered was around the 750 km's mark.

My friend who used to own a Bullet 500(recently sold!) had the same experience while riding the GQ circuit, we had shifted to Valvoline 20W50 from the usual liquid gun and the motorcycle's performance changed dramatically he mentioned the exact same experience as you i.e regarding the RVM's, vibrations and heat, motorcycle could achieve higher speeds without much hassle, same was the case even with Castrol 15W50 which led us to conclude that anything other than Liquid Gun performs better on the motorcycle. :D

BTW, next time do consider posting pictures of the motorcycle as well, also do consider Bison Valley - Suryanelli - Bodhimetu route, thumping up Bison Valley on a pushrod thumper would be nothing but ecstatic, on the TVS Wego I was climbing at around 10kmph with the throttle wide open. lol:
