GenZe is a Mahindra group company which manufactures electric scooters and e-bikes in Detroit. The GenZe 2.0 electric scooter is built around an aluminium frame. It weighs 105 kg and a payload capacity of 134 kg. It is powered by a 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery that gives it a range of up to 48 km per charge. GenZe claims that it will reach its top speed of 48 km/h in less than 10 sec. The scooter has three driving modes - sport, economy and easy and even features regenerative braking.

According to an earlier media report, Mahindra is also working on an electric scooter based on the Gusto scooter's platform. It is currently being developed at the company's 2-wheeler R&D facility in Pune.

I hope Mahindra do not go ahead and launch this in as it condition.
This product looks too barebones, almost looks like it is missing a 'body'.

In a few ways, it reminds me the Luna TFR, which was used by rural folks to ferry farm produce.

The GenZe 2.0 is based on an aluminium chassis and weighs 105 kg. This particular test mule is the 2.0f version. It has white and black bodywork with a circular LED headlamp and a 7.0-inch touchscreen instrument cluster. It is configured with a large storage box in place of a rear seat and has an electronically locking centre stand. Besides, the scooter has twin telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers in the rear.

A 1.6 kWh lithium-ion battery that has a maximum range of 48 km on a single charge powers the GenZe 2.0f. Riders can select between 3 riding modes. GenZe claims that the e-scooter can accelerate to its top speed of 48 km/h in less than 10 seconds.

In terms of features, the GenZe 2.0 comes with a mobile app that allows the rider to plan routes in advance. It displays the battery level with estimated range, riding statistics and also helps run a diagnostics check for issues. It has theft prevention feature where one can disable the scooter remotely. Other features include under-seat USB charging port, safety alerts and weather information.

GenZe is a Mahindra Group subsidiary, which manufactures and sells e-bikes in the US market. According to previous reports, Mahindra has been evaluating GenZe electric 2-wheelers for the Indian market. The recent spotting suggests that Mahindra might have commenced on-road trials of the e-bike.

Re: Mahindra plans to launch GenZe electric 2-wheelers in India

48 km is too less a range to expect unless the company is targeting tier II and tier III markets, which are difficult to crack because buyers are accustomed to 100 cc bikes which are absolutely simple to use and are almost maintenance free. More so, though the choice of word is not correct - these cities also operate with a "herd mentality" and thus bringing a change in the purchase decision is difficult to achieve.

Tier I on the other hand may be ready to experiment but such poor range of sub-50 km does not bring right kind of confidence among the buyers.

I am hoping they launch the eBikes with sensible pricing. It would be perfect for my daily office commute. For the scooter (atleast in current form) I see no future.

M&M to close its electric 2 wheeler subsidiary GenZe; IP rights to be used by Mahindra Electric

Mahindra & Mahindra’s wholly-owned GenZe is an EV manufacturer based in California offering desirable e-bikes and e-scooters.

Quote:
Indian business giant Mahindra & Mahindra plans to discontinue its wholly-owned subsidiary, GenZe. Based in California, GenZe is an EV brand offering a range of e-bikes (bicycles) and e-scooters exclusively in the US market. The information came to light when Pawan Goenka, MD of Mahindra & Mahindra, was sharing the company’s financial results in the fourth quarter of FY2020.

The plan is to completely shut down GenZe in about six months. After its discontinuation, the intellectual property rights of GenZe will be utilized for Mahindra Electric and various other projects coming under Mahindra & Mahindra.

Conceived in Silicon Valley and assembled in “Motor City” (Detroit, Michigan), GenZe has two e-bike (200 Series and 100 Series) and two e-scooter (2.0e and 2.0f) model lines. The company is currently offering a grand summer sale at a price cut of $500 on its entire line of products. With its e-bikes, GenZe has created a public bike-sharing environment in the US while the e-scooter range is a fitting purchase for fleet operations or delivery services.
Quote:
One of the highlights of GenZe e-bikes is their combustibility. There is a desirable portfolio of frames, sizes and colors to choose from. Notable features include removable battery packs, riding modes, LCD instrument console and smartphone connectivity. They can cross a top speed of 30km/h purely in electric mode (without pedaling) while range figures hit close to 30km on a full charge. The rider can push this to over 60km by pedaling every once in a while.

Coming to GenZe’s electric scooter range, modular construction and purpose-focused accessories are some of the main advantages. They are built over a solid cast aluminum chassis and weigh roughly 105kg. The removable battery pack weighs about 14kg and promises a range of over 50km on a full charge. It can attain a top speed of 30mph or ~48km/h, which is arguably enough for urban environments

GenZe has a manufacturing unit in Detroit. The factory used to produce electric bicycles and electric scooters for the US market.

The company offered two electric bicycle modes - 100 Series and 200 Series. There were two variations of its electric scooter - 2.0e and 2.0f. The latter came with a lockable storage compartment. The GenZe 2.0 has a claimed top speed of 51 km/h.
