The Interceptor and Continental 650

That Orange Interceptor looks delicious IMO. If they price this right RE should have another winner on their hands.

Foreign markets to be serviced first.. India later- Sid Lal at the launch

I think he also said something which effectively meant that when enough quantity is to be produced then only they will produce in India. I guess it will be a long wait for the people in India who would want this.

Rgds

The Interceptor, if priced right should be a hit for sure. Wish they could have started the bike, curious how they would sound. I might go for one, but after a year or two post the launchlol:, just to be on the safer side.

The blue CGT650 looks nice!

If he said that, there are two outcomes. First; they price it high, to cater to the nostalgia markets in the west. Quality also may be topnotch. Expect price upward of 5 lacs inr. Second; India may not get these bikes for the next 2/3 years because they don't see them selling here at high prices. Trying to produce it to sub 3/3.5 lac inr will see the same poor quality like their other products

I believe the obvious reason could be to sort out the niggles. RE's bread and butter is the Indian market and would not want to be in the same soup as with the case of Himalayan.
With low numbers from abroad and more time to fix the issues before seeing the day on Indian roads, which upon launch will sell as a probably problem free bike.

On a side note, at the end of the video it said, be at RiderMania, which is when they should be showcasing the bike for us.

I'm wondering how affordable and durable it's going to be, as these words were stressed a couple of times.

Some key takeaways from the Live event :

- Europe is the first market probably - with a likely April launch
- One spec, which means this motorcycle has been designed to meet the highest of regulations in each and every parameter - and the best of those specs would be sold globally !
- CGT650 might look like the existing 535, but is actually 90% new - with very few parts being carried over!
- Lots of customization options to be available along with the bike when it goes on sale
- RE now has a tie-up with SVS exhaust (I hope I heard right) and aftermarket exhaust options should also be available at the RE dealerships
- Most accessories would be interchangeable between both these variants
- Alloys, fly screen, mirrors, are part of the accessories mentioned
- CGT will come as a twin-seat as default, and the single seat on display is an accessory - which can be removed and fit with a snap - no complicated tools required.
- Sid Lal got it wrong when he called the 650 twin an air cooled engine, Simon - the Product Development head had to correct him that it is actually oil cooled :)

Here are some of the pictures of the Continental GT "Twin" sporting the new 650CC twin. Looks pretty damn great, IMO. :D

I do prefer the interceptor (especially as represented in the avatar in the 2nd photo) over the GT

Right from hiring foreign staff, shift office to UK.. it was planned to convince the customer from developed markets.

Kind of customers who won't be easily convinced to buy something developed totally by Indians

The Interceptor looks fantastic. I, now, eagerly look forward to the first set of test ride reports come out - hoping it rides as good as it looks.

Here's a video by RE on the twins.

I hope RE will provide bigger fuel tank to CGT650 and it's S&S exhaust not SVS.
