Hi All, I just received a call from Sai Hero BLR on the booking we made last week for the Xpulse 200 FI, apparently the on-road prices are up by 13k from 1.29L to 1.42L.

Also one interesting thing I noticed was a 1.5K 'handling fee' which I believe is deemed illegal by RTO ?

Other smaller dealerships in BLR still quote 1.29L as the on-road price. Waiting for an email reply form hero south region and the dealership.

Anyone here informed about this hike ?

KR
They goofed up on the Roadtax calculation and Ex-showroom pricing consideration for FI Model. Hence the confusion.

The 1.5k handling fee is just ludicrous i felt.

I took their first delivery of XPulse.

Re: Hero teases small adventure bike. EDIT: It's the XPulse 200

UPDATE:

Someone from the Hero motocorp sales called up trying to explain the raise in on-road price.

All the showrooms in Bangalore have made an error in factoring the tax component for a motorcycle who's Ex-showroom value exceeds 1L. This being the first product prized above a lakh, they forgot to correct the tax rates.

There will now be a city wide price hike to account for this.

Regarding the 'handling charges' he said the money goes towards unloading, PDI, registration trip to RTO etc. I didn't buy it !

Awaiting further updates from HMCL.

Not sure if their excuse is truth- but this part is correct. Road tax is 12% and 18% below and above 1L ex-showroom respectively.

Do they charge the same handling charges for their scooters and other motorbikes as well? Or is it only for the Xpulse?

Congrats! Waiting eagerly for the ride reports!

How's the power, feel significantly better than the old Impulse? What do you think it'll be like with a pillion and saddlebags?

I am not sure if they do. As per RTO circulars to dealers, they shouldn't.

That is not true, unless they haven't sold a Karizma in the recent past. Karizma ex-showroom price is INR 108,000

Re: Hero teases small adventure bike. EDIT: It's the XPulse 200

No showroom in Bangalore seems to have the Xpulse yet. I visited the Lalbagh showroom, they have the 200T and Xtreme 200S (which actually looks really good in real life). Have decided to drop my plans for the Xpulse, now deciding between the RTR200 and NS200.

Power is pretty Linear, Initial torque good. On the go you feel the need for a punchier exhaust also feel the want for better midrange pull. Pillion comfort extremely good. All those who sat back had good things to say about the suspension. Yet to do a proper ride. Should happen this week.

Re: Hero teases small adventure bike. EDIT: It's the XPulse 200

I test rode this bike xpulse , the carb model.

Beautiful looking bike and the fit and finish is very premium and speaks quality.
Suspension is wonderful , it soaks rough roads and is apt for offroad too.
Brakes are very blunt , but that must be for the offroad purpose.
Very good posture and balance , its so comfortable and easy in the city compared to even small commuter bikes. The good points end here.
The engine is gutless, there is no power , it feels like a splendor, a superb package wasted by the useless engine.
This bike can be very good alternative to normal commuter bikes as it has better suspension and stance, can do offroad only limited by power.

The kind of trails which have hard loose gravel should be fine, surfaces like sand, steep climbs and luggage, sorry. Some how the old 2005 karisma feels so much torquier than this.

Guess the KTM 390adv will be the perfect answer for the overweight Himalayan and anemic Hero Xpulse.

Hero dealership charging Rs 1,000 to test ride Xpulse 200

After starting to see a few Xpulse FIs on the road in Cochin, I stopped at Focuz Biwheelers in Panampally Nagar to check out the bike and test ride the fuel injected model. All current FI bikes are sold out and the waiting period is 2 months. The waiting period for the carbed Xpulses is 1.5 months. I got the price breakup from them and asked for a test ride.

I was told I need to make a test ride booking first before I can test ride the bike. I mentioned that there was nobody else in the showroom except the staff and all the test ride bikes were free. I was unable to understand what the issue was. Then I was told that the booking of the test ride can happen only after paying Rs 1,000!

I nearly fell off my chair in amazement and marvelled at this new policy from Hero dealerships. Apparently this policy exists only for the Xpulse test rides in this dealership. The sales lady suggested I go talk to the manager to discuss this. With a smile, I politely declined, thanked her and left.

I've already called the Hero customer care helpline and complained about this. The executive was also quite surprised to hear of this and confirmed that it is not a Hero company policy. She will forward the complaint to the concerned teams and I should get to hear back from them within 2 days.

I can only imagine how many customers they have conned out of their hard earned money in the guise of providing test rides.
