Although I'm happy that a brand like Norton will be available in India, I'd rather they enter on their own than through a tie-up with Kinetic. Their past doesn't usually doesn't inspire confidence. Apart from that one success with Honda in the early-mid 90s, the other brands Kinetic bought to India almost always doesn't end well!

Hyosung is still around, if I'm not wrong. I just saw their stall last week at an auto expo. Granted, not many people would be going for them these days as the market for larger capacity motorcycles has increased and companies like Kawasaki, Triumph and Harley-Davidson have come in to India on their own.

While Hyosung is still around they don't seem interested to update their model line up at all. If I'm not wrong the current range has been stagnant for some time now, although there are rumors speculating new launches for 2018.

The Kinetic Group and UK’s Norton Motorcycle Company have officially announced a joint venture. The latest development comes in the wake of a brief announcement that was made during the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy.

As part of the joint venture, Motoroyale – a Kinetic Group sub-brand, will oversee operations in India and ASEAN countries. Motoroyale and Norton plan to setup retail channels and service outlets in India and other South-East Asian countries.

Norton will handle the design and engineering, while Motoroyale will give manufacturing support and will handle localization and homologation of the products. The company has plans to invest US$ 10 million into this project.

CKD assemblies are expected to commence at Kinetic’s Ahmednagar plant by the end of 2018. Some of the bikes planned for India include the Commando 961 Sport, Commando 961 Café Racer, Dominator Sport and DomiRacer.

Both bikes will be launched by Kinetic MotoRoyale under the new joint venture between the Kinetic Group and Britain's Norton Motorcycles. Like the Commando, the Dominator name is also taken from Norton's 1940s motorcycle with the same name. The original Dominator was in production from 1947 till 1976, with varying engine capacity, ranging from 500 cc to 828 cc twin engines. The new Norton Dominator has been manufactured by the resurrected Norton Motorcycles company based at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK. It's a production model based on the exclusive Domiracer, and was first unveiled in 2015. It's the second bike from the British bike manufacturer which will be launched in India after the Norton Commando.

The Dominator will be second Norton bike to be launched in India. The Dominator is poweerd by a 961 cc, air-cooled, parallel-twin engine. The Dominator uses high-spec components including carbon fibre bodywork.
