Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

Shrey Motoplex organised today, what I call a superb track day at Chicane, the only proper track in Hyderabad to let Aprilia SR150 owners unleash their talents , under the supervision of Racing experts.

The day being Republic Day, we all started from Motoplex shworoom early morning after a flag off, and headed to Chicane Circuit located in Leonia Resorts, 40 km from Hyderabad.

Upon reaching the circuit, our Aprilias were scrutinised and after a 30 minute tutorial by Race'ists (a professional riding group) and soon our tuned SR150s were ready to enter the track.

Each of us were allowed warm up laps and then too turns to really burn the track which has 13 corners, 2 straights.
For the first time, my SR150 with top case was on a track, to be believed or not, the cornering ability of SR150s are phenomenal.

I put in about 10 blistering laps on my SR150 and it was a dream come true.

It was a wholesome experience for SR150 riders, exclusively provided by Shrey Motoplex to its customers and we certainly walked home with broad smiles.
A tastefully made video by one of the Race'ist experts summarizes it all.. loud and clear !!!

Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

3rd Service Report
I had deliberately skipped 2nd service as my SR150 did not even clock 500kms when the 2nd service came up and the Service centre also agreed for this and just gave a water wash at that time.
Almost 9 months into ownership and 3rd service reminder call took me to Service centre, and my first question was about the change in brand of Engine Oil from Agip(Enel) to Castrol.
The new brand of oil came as a OEM recommended lube from Piaggio India.'

Odometre Reading before 3rd Service

Since my Odometer showed just 686 km covered I was advised to just go for a mandatory 3rd Service oil change which was the only amount I paid Rs.275 for 750ml of Engine oil. All filters were cleaned and brakes adjusted and checked and out came my Sr150 after its sumptuous bath !!

Your Truly with SR150 ready to race (err thats KTM's slogan !!)

Happily made the payment through e-wallet and rode out of the service centre.

Lot of riders from my SR150 Whatsapp group reported that their vehicles had become heavy and noisy after starting to use Castrol Engine oil, perhaps it was to do with the difference in grading of oil compared to Agip. I need to watch out for this now !!! Meanwhile ride safe and Happy Motoring.
But one thing, I cant deny..My SR150 Race edition, particularly mine with bubble flyscreen and luggae box attracts attention on the road !!! One observer thought it was an electric scooter and battery was loaded in the rear carry box

The Castrol has been a boon this summer, the engine sounded smoother in my case though I don't like Castrol. Winter cold starts would be a headache for sure thanks to the thicker grade.

Please provide more info on the Agip oil which was initially recommended. A photograph would be helpful.

Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

Wow, didnt no realise they organise a track day for the SR150. I have booked the race edition on 29 July at motoplex Avant grade motors bangalore.

Am returning on 29th August and had requested them to register the bike and make it available for delivery there after.

I hope to get decent pair of DRLs, H4 LEDs, USB bolt charger fitted once I get the bike.

Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

Got the bike on friday, it loves to be at 40_60 range. Extremely smooth at that speed range.

Upgraded the bulbs to 50/65 on sunday and have burnt the headlight doom . Going to the showroom to pick up a replacement.

Were the new bulbs running on Automatic Headlight On (AHO) mode? Because this will heat up the headlight assembly easily after 30-45 minutes run and melt away. Ask the Service centre to install a headlight switch, which can be done.
Ride Safe.

Yes were running for 30 min at night and an hour in the morning. Am switching back to 30W then to LEDs once i get them. I hope the LEDs dont melt the headlight further.

Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

I want to swap out my rear shocks to a nitro based or adjustable one. Could not find any online. Anyone tried it here or any advice?

Re: My Aprilia SR150 Race Edition

Today, I received surprise sms from Vespa India, wishing a "Happy Birthday" for my SR150 , which meant 1 year of ownership completed and joy of riding taken to new heights.
Incidentally I completed the 5th Service, with an oil change and the machine is to good to go for another 365 days !!
SR150 and 125 are becoming quite popular now, with Piaggio launching in myriad of colours. Hope the tribe increases over years and service continues to excel.
