re: Royal Enfield launches Thunderbird 350X & 500X in India

Looks like RE was reading Tbhp. I saw this thread (and the leaks earlier) and instantly remembered this comment made by a bhpian in another thread, a year and a half ago !

Looks like RE has ran out of original ideas. This is my thunderbird which I did some work on in 2011.It still carries the same style even today.
Maybe time for me to update as there would be too many on them on road now.

The 'street' version of RE Thunderbird. Wonder how much they would charge additionally for the design customization ? I wish they are priced significantly lesser than the current TB350/TB500.

Are you actually wishing that the new Thunderbird X variants with alloys, tubeless tyres and a more premium seat would be priced significantly lesser than the standard bike?

re: Royal Enfield launches Thunderbird 350X & 500X in India

Royal Enfield really needs to stop being lazy with it's so call "updates". This looks more like an after market job than something coming from a manufacturer.

You can see countless such examples already on the roads with similar alloys, tapering seats, tanks etc.

The bike does look good because the bike it is based on is quite handsome to begin with. But an update demands much more than what RE is offering , especially after considering the fact that the Thunderbird models have been around for quite some time now with the exact same specs and mechanicals.

Fair pricing I guess. I mean, if you buy a TB 350/500 and plan to do these after taking the delivery, you would certainly spend more than 10K. So getting these bikes with some of the most common customizations folks do for just another 8000/- is a good deal.

This is not a replacement, just an additional variant. I think the regular TB will also be sold parllely.

Royal Enfield launches Thunderbird 350X, 500X in India

Royal Enfield has launched the Thunderbird 350X and 500X. The new variants are priced at Rs. 1,56,849 and Rs. 1,98,878 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

The Thunderbird 350X and 500X are the newest addition to the Royal Enfield’s Thunderbird range. The bikes are based on a single down tube chassis with 41 mm front forks and twin gas charged shock absorbers with adjustable preload in the rear. The overall length is 2,040 mm, while the width and height are 830 mm and 1,140 mm respectively. Both versions have an identical wheelbase of 1,350 mm. The 350X weighs 195 kg, while the 500X tips the scales at 197 kg. Fuel tank capacity is 20 litres.

The 350X and 500X come in dual-tone colour schemes. The 350X is available with Roving Red or Whimsical White fuel tank, while the 500X comes with a choice of Getaway Orange or Drifter Blue. Both bikes come with black, 9-spoke alloy wheels with colour-matched rim highlights and black parts including the front and rear fenders, front forks, engine and exhaust.

The same circular headlamp has been carried over from the Thunderbird, which has an integrated LED DRL ring and chrome bezel, while the twin-pod instrument cluster is finished in black. The bikes also feature black handlebars that have been re-positioned for a more laid-back riding style. In the rear, the bikes get an LED tail lamp and redesigned grab handles. The Thunderbird 350X and 500X get a single-piece stepped seat and miss out on the rear seat back rest.

Mechanically, both bikes are identical to their respective standard versions. The 350X is powered by a 346 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 19.8 BHP @ 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm. The 500X employs a 499 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection that makes 27.2 BHP @ 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. Both bikes come equipped with a 5-speed gearbox.

The bikes ride on 19-inch and 18-inch alloys in the front and rear respectively, shod with 90/90 front and 120/80 section tubeless tyres in the rear. Brakes come in the form of a single 280 mm ventilated front disc with 2-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with a single piston caliper.

Re: Royal Enfield launches Thunderbird 350X, 500X in India

Both look good and will be a viable option to those considering the Thunderbird, its Royal Enfields sleekest model yet.

I am also interested in knowing if those alloys are available sperately as they would be a great option for my classic.

Hope they also launch the twins soon.

Looks decent in white. And the prices seem rather honest compared to the earlier variants. Overall - a decent option to the range.

If only they can improve the quality with each newer variant.

T-bird 500 X at nearly 2 Lakhs???

That's too much especially when the 250 Duke and Dominar 400 are available
