Small correction. I think Kinetic gets credit for India's first Maxi scooter with their Blaze a decade back. But honestly both do have stylistic cues of Maxi scooters but do their 125 and 165 cc engines allow them to qualify as Maxi scooters?

I have for decades drooled for Yamaha T Max and recently BMW C series scoots (The original Suzuki Burgman not as much because it had a not so proportionate shape from when it was launched). It breaks my heart when such such iconic names are launched with such tiny 125cc engine. No offense meant to this scooter though. It sure might have its merits.

Not really, a 125cc doesn't qualify as a maxi scooter, IMO. Blaze was one hell of a scoot as someone rightly mentioned.

The Burgman 650, now that'd be worthy of the maxi-scooter moniker.

Absolutely.

A big bulky body doesn't make this one a maxi - scooter, it just makes it a wannabe!

Thankfully its not as ugly as the Intruder - even though the tyres spoil the look of an otherwise good looking scooter.

As a Blaze owner desperately hoping for an upgrade, it saddens me to see the profile of the Burgman Street with it's short wheelbase (accentuated by the rear overhang) as well as the tiny, narrow rubber.

However, to give some credit, there seems to have a roomy footwell for a feet-forward riding position (which the current crop of sporty scooters desperately lack)

Is that a 10 inch tire at the rear? Looks horrible. Overall this looks odd from side and does not look anything like a scooter. Given that 125cc segment is gathering some pace, they could have launched something inline with NTorq.

Such a small tire is a recipe for disaster on our wonderful surfaced roads. What is Suzuki thinking ? Making miniatures of their butch models for smaller places is fine, but at least they should look fine and be practical.

Rumour: Suzuki Burgman Street 125 bookings open

According to a media report, Suzuki dealerships have started accepting bookings for the upcoming Burgman Street 125 maxi-scooter for a token amount of Rs. 5,000.



Earlier this week, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 was spotted in Gurgaon during an advertisement shoot. Spy images suggest that the styling will be inspired by the Burgman range of maxi-scooters, which includes the Burgman 200, the Burgman 400 and the Burgman 650. It gets a large front cowl with a sweptback headlamp and a windshield. The scooter appears to have a fairly flat seat with a single-piece grab handle, while the tail lamp gets arrow-shaped turn signals.

In India, the Burgman Street 125 is expected to be offered with a 124.3 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which produces 8.5 BHP @ 7,000 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque @ 5,000 rpm. This is the same engine that powers the Access 125. The maxi-scooter is expected to come with a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension. It comes equipped with a single disc brake at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Combined Braking System (CBS) is likely to be offered as standard.

The Burgman Street 125 will compete with the Aprilia SR150 and TVS NTorq in the Indian market. There has been no word yet from Suzuki regarding the launch of this scooter.

What's the point of this scooter, is it just for different style. I mean it doesn't have big wheels like the competition, so it won't corner like a aprilia and also has the same 125cc engine as other scooters. It's front just adds to wastefull bulkiness.

I hope atleast the ride is comfortable then even a ntorq, otherwise it's not going to sell. There are enough scooters with stiff suspension.

Noticed a video uploaded on youtube - walkaround of the Burgman Street. Seems like many parts are directly taken from the Access, including the underseat storage bin. Differences to the Access other than the styling include the LCD panel on the dashboard (though does not seem to have as rich functionality as the Ntorq), LED lights, pass switches probably. Is probably more "comfortable" than Ntorq, but in most other aspects it looks like Ntorq would have the lead.

I needed to get a replacement for my Activa which is in its 15th year, was hoping for more from the Burgman.
