Quite an old product.

However, after looking at the Intruder 150 and seeing it's prices - Avenger looks like a complete steal now.

ABS would have made it a complete package for the price.

Couldn't agree more on this. Why on earth are these manufacturers launching the so-called revised models without ABS! At least, when you are putting some efforts in refreshing the model, why can't they invest in areas that matter the most.

Also, they could have blackened the silverish looking rim around the headlight too. Kinda looks odd with the rest of the bike in black.

One shouldn't forget that Bajaj is a mass market player and that the 220 is their second biggest engine, after the Dominar. Safety features aren't what matter to mass market manufactures yet in our country. So unless the government makes it mandatory or competition introduces ABS, Bajaj doesn't see a "need" for ABS!

However, due credit should be given to them for introducing the Dominar with optional ABS. Different marketing teams maybe!

Certainly agreed that Bajaj is a mass market player but Avenger 220 is not at all what the mass is going after. As per www.autopunditz.com, they sold 2874 of these.

Another thing to note is that, if someone is looking for a cruiser kind of ride but cannot afford a Harley, this is the only option available in the market which a common man can buy. So adding such safety feature will take them a long way.

Probably, Bajaj is taking advantage of the situation since they know there was no real competition in this segment and price range till the Intruder was launched.

Ride Safe

Re: 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 series launched at Rs. 92,954

Dont know how long Bajaj is going with this EL125 platform with new cosmetic updates ! No doubt its the only affordable cruiser in the market at this price range. ABS would have been great offering may be for top end variant.
I have Avenger 220, 2012 and TB 350 as well but the confidence level & braking control at higher speed is a big distinction and TB 350 scores well.
The brake pedal position and drowsy steering adds some discomfort as well , that might be because of packaging limitations of the platform and caster limitations.
Brake pedal position is at some offset from the ankle plane causing requirement of brake application by corner of the foot which again results into discomfort.
I can suggest foot-board instead of foot rest as like it was in Yamaha Enticer and the pedal position just above the plane of foot board.

How difficult this is to implement? I own the original eliminator and would like to add this in addition to changing the shocks to that of gas ones.

Re: 2018 Bajaj Avenger 220 series launched at Rs. 92,954

Hi,
I just wish that bajaj would come out with a 400cc or 600 cc based on the Avenger platform with front and rear discs, abs, wider/fatter rear tires to pit it against the mid range harleys etc. I own a 220 Avenger and its grossly under powered. The above would certainly be my wish list...Of course with decent pricing levels. :-)

This is already in works, but not sure when this will be launched.

Agreed that it would be great to have such a cruiser from an Indian manufacturer. But more power requires more stability/control which must be able to install that confidence to the rider and all this increases cost of the machine and maintenance in the long run. It might just not be worth it. Our manufacturers aren't fascinated to manufacture that breed of machines yet. Not even customisation options thus far.

Under powered? And what speeds do you think you could do in your Avenger or even if there exists a 400/600cc ones with safety in mind?

Avenger 220 ABS to be priced at 1.02L

Quote:
The Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 ABS variant was recently spotted and we’ve now gotten information that both the models in the Avenger 220 line-up – the Street 220 and Cruise 220 – have received the update and are both priced at Rs 1,02,425. The non-ABS version of the bikes cost Rs 95,705 (all prices, ex-showroom Pune) so the ABS update comes at an increase of a little over Rs 6,700.

Isn't ABS mandatory from March 2019? I wonder if there's any benefit of manufacturing something with it becoming non compliant in a couple of months.
