The Yamaha Aerox 155 has been spotted in India and it may be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. Reports suggest that it may be launched on February 25th, 2018.

The scooter was snapped at what appears to be a Yamaha service centre. The scooter was unveiled for select international markets in October 2016.











It will be a 155cc Yamaha Blue Core liquid-cooled engine delivering 14.8 Bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
Other features include:
*14-inch rims
*25-litre under seat storage compartment
*ABS as standard
*Twin eye LED headlights and LED tail and brake lights,
*smart key system and;
*digital Instrument cluster with 5.8 inch LCD display.

Looks good. A 150cc maxi scooter with ABS - the first innovative launch from Yamaha in recent years.

If at all the launch happens though. Could just be imported to add some visual appeal to an otherwise boring Auto Expo lineup. Yamaha only has the R15 as the primary attraction this year. The less said about recent launches like the Fazer25, the better.

CrAzY dRiVeR was talking about Fazer25 (with fairing). FZ25 is its naked sibling. And unlike FZ25 which is selling decently, Fazer25 isn't really doing well due to its pathetic styling. (personal opinion, no offence to owners)

Nothing too wrong.

But far too conservative and safe. Can't even associate it with the same company that launched the R15 and FZ16 almost a decade ago. Played it safe with respect to most aspects including styling, power, features etc. Build and quality are not the typical Yamaha levels either.

Aerox 155, if launched is a bold move and totally different from the general market trend. Such a scooter hasn't seen launched in the Indian market ever since the Blaze was pulled out, and even Hero didn't have the courage to try it out - even though their ZIR concept was well received. SR150 was there in terms of performance, but the dimensions stuck to the usual unisex template - where was the Aerox looks to be plucked right off European streets.

However - I still feel it might just be here for Auto Expo display purposes.

Manufacturers have been teasing the Indian scooter lovers with maxi scooters for so long. I remember seeing a nmax in a showroom in Chennai. But then it was mostly for show and tell. PCX 150 was shown in the last auto show 2 years ago and was supposed to be launched but instead we got zilch. Then there was the zefferano from Benelli which was caught on road tests in August last year but nothing much has happened in the same regards. Hero zir is .... well I suppose at this point a unicorn. It's not happening. Then just as the auto show is around the corner we see a flurry of maxi scooters. The burgman Street and now aerox. Well a boy can always dream I suppose.

I got tired of waiting for one of these guys to launch a decent 150cc scooter but ultimately, plonked my cash on a Honda Grazia a few months ago. Wish the SR150 came with bigger dimensions.

This Aerox is clearly for Show & Tell at the AutoExpo.

Given the fact that there is no camouflage on the scooter, it's definitely for show.

If you look at the line-up, Yamaha has just 4 scooters. All of them have the same engine with more or less the same output.

Though this would have been a nice addition to the line-up with a 150+ cc engine, it's highly unlikely. Yamaha should consider entering this segment as there are no real competitors as such other than the SR150 and the upcoming TVS 150 cc scooter (related thread).

Yamaha had actually showcased the Mio at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Aerox 155 belongs to the same series of bikes.

Yamaha Aerox is a great launch if they do launch in India. Not too sure about 4T but 2T line up is killer which will be missed in India.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 in its current design is destined to remain a niche scooter. I say this because our masses desire a scooter that can carry sufficient ( should I say enormous ) amount of luggage. The design of the Aerox precludes carrying luggage in the front, in the leg space of the driver.

That in itself will kill any mass appeal.

Having said that I am eagerly awaiting any launch of a maxi scooter in the + 250 cc range.

Most scooters can store a full face helmet.

What kind of helmet do you have ? Motocross style ?
