Suzuki 2-wheelers have a good reach in the Indian market. Their stall at the expo attracted a lot of crowd on account of new launches and their international line-up on display:


The VR experience zone with the Gixxer SF:


The ‎Suzuki GSX-RR bike of Alex Rins was on display! That's the 2017 season bike on the left. On the right, you have the Gixxer SF from the Gixxer cup:


Suzuki had 3 new unveils for the Expo:

1. Burgman Street 125

2. Intruder Fuel-Injection (FI) variant

3. GSX-S 750 (Made in India)

Burgman Street 125

Suzuki recently launched a downsized version of the Intruder in India. They've done the same again in the scooter segment as well. A downsized version of the Burgman 650 was unveiled:


Unlike the Intruder 150, which looks completely out of place from the lineage, the Burgman street manages to pull off the look quite well. The bulky front end is in line with the big brother design, while the rear is where it loses on meat:


The rear lights look similar to some of the motorcycles on Indian roads, probably even better:


The front has an LED headlamp cluster with turn indicators at the side of the cowl. Chrome strips running from the top would be more prominent on other body colours:


A chunky exhaust. The Burgman Street will have the same engine as the Access 125 which makes 8.6 BHP and 10.2 Nm of torque:


The black colour was also displayed. Note that the front windscreen is mounted on the cowl (body) rather than the handlebar:


Footrests at the top for a relaxed riding position. The white body colour highlights the chrome strips on the front and the black grab handles:


The front wheel gets a disc brake with Nissin caliper. The scooter gets a combi-brake system:


There is a small open storage space on the right:


On the left, you have a charging socket and also a place to keep your phone. Also seen here is the bag hook at the center:

Intruder Fuel-Injection (FI) variant

Suzuki launched the Intruder in November last year, albeit without fuel injection. The newer version with fuel injection was unveiled at the expo:


The bike on display had a new livery with graphic detailing which looked much better than the solid body colour:


I think the extended bulk at the front looks weird and a forced attempt to make the bike look muscular:


The cruiser like riding position suits well even for a bike of this size:


The rear gets an LED lamp. The turn indicators aren't placed a little too low and away from the tail lamp:


The twin exhaust is a size too big for a cruiser bike:


The Intruder gets a digital instrument panel and chrome mirror finish:


Intruder badge on the sides of the tank:


Glass Sparkle Black/Metallic Matt Titanium Silver colour option also on display:


Metallic Oort/Metallic Matt Black paint option looks too boring:


It gets disc brakes at both ends while ABS is part of the standard package:


The engine makes 14.6 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed transmission:

GSX-S 750 (Made in India)

After the launch of a CKD Hayabusa, Suzuki will now start assembling the GSX-S750 in India:


The bike carries forward some design elements from the GSX-S1000:


The chassis is claimed to integrate the qualities of a tubular streetbike frame and a twin-spar sportbike frame. It comes fitted with KYB suspension:


The road-bike stance with a powerful engine and an affordable price might prove to be popular in the Indian market:


Four-piston Nissin Monobloc brake calipers squeeze twin, 310mm wave style brake rotors up front:


Nice looking exhaust. Although, many owners will surely not be settling for this stock:


The rear tyre has a single-piston caliper. Along with ABS, the bike also gets traction control:

Powering the bike is a 749 cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder engine:

Among the other bikes on display was the V-Storm 650XT with ABS:


The adventure bike was packed with saddle storage boxes. The bike carries many design cues from its elder 1,000 cc sibling:


The bike is built around a rigid aluminium twin-spar frame:


The V-Strom 650XT has tubeless tyre with wire spoked wheels. The gold-anodised rims are exclusive to this colour displayed. Wheel size is 19-inch on the front:


The rear suspension gets rebound adjustment and a remote preload adjuster which can be operated by hand which allows the rider to setup the suspension to match the riding style:


The bike gets traction control switch on the left. The digital section displays information almost as much as that of a car:


Look closely and you can make out that this is the GSXR-1000R and not the regular GSXR-1000 in the MotoGP livery:



Apart from the livery, the bike even gets some technologies that are derived from the MotoGP bike GSX-RR:

The iconic Hayabusa was also on display. The 2018 Hayabusa that was launched recently is available in this Glass Sparkle Black...



... and this Pearl Mira Red / Pearl Glacier White. The 'Dhoom' bike will never run out of attention from Indian public:


Here's the Burgman 650:



The digital display shows an odometer, twin trip meters, a fuel consumption meter, a fuel meter, a coolant temperature indicator, a thermometer, a clock, an oil level indicator, an oil change indicator, a drive mode indicator (for drive mode and power mode), and a gear position indicator (for manual mode):


Suzuki also had some of their bikes from the off-road portfolio on display. Here's the RM-Z450:

I must say that GSX-S750 is the flag bearer for the Suzuki this year. If priced well, this bike can lure many enthusiasts to take it home. Burgman Street 125 is also looking very good and very well placed, On the other hand, Downsized Intruder is one of the ugliest bike I have ever seen.

I find this design funny and overdone for a cruiser. Some BHPian rightly pointed out that, Intruder looks like a bodybuilder who forgot all his leg days. Suzuki likes to call Intruder a Cruiser motorcycle. My basic requirement in a cruiser motorcycle is provision to accommodate luggage. I will buy a saddlebag for my long trips but where should I put it on the Intruder. The exhaust is too big, it will be a big hindrance for a saddlebag.

Absolutely. But a lot depends on the pricing.

Z900 is a CBU from Thailand and is priced at 7.68L. Suzuki is taking the CKD route and should look to undercut this by a good margin.

Just read on Autocar (and other sites) that a confirmed launch in July for an Indian assembled VStorm 650XT is on the cards. Price on road is expected to be 8.2L. Been tracking this announcement for a while now what with the beamer boys not playing nice and inflating their price point for the 750GS and 850GS making it unaffordable for common folk like me, this seems like a nice bet with its classic tourer styling, decent riding position, ABS and traction control.

I wonder if bookings open already.
Any news?
