In such a case, always have only one person, either your Son or your Wife, as pillion. Never both. And get them a helmet for sure. Will be helpful in extreme cases, if you come across one. Do not wish that you come across such a situation but it is getter to have a helmet for the pillion as well. Knee guards for long highway rides - recommended but the family members can decide based on their comfort level when wearing those.

As an existing owner, would like to know your feedback on the LED headlight. Also, if feasible, pictures on the throw of the low/hi beam. Thanks!

Haha, we always say CBR250RR as 250 friggin double R!

That is because it is a 250 twin that can match the performance of a KTM 390! In fact manages better top speeds.

And i am not even talking about the 4 cylinder legendary 250 friggin double R.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

This is what the CBR250R should have been.

While the Activa is at god knows what G, we still get what is an essentially 7 year old motorcycle with LED lights and new stickers. Sure it's refined and reliable, but Honda have replaced the CBR250R with the CBR300R everywhere except India, that too since 2015. That's where it hurts the most. If not for the presence of the 300, the 250 would still make a lot of sense. Inspite of all the refinement and reliability arguments in favour of the CBR250R, I cannot look past the disappointing decision to not replace the 250R with the 300R, especially after watching that video

Was my initial impressions as well, but having second thoughts after reading through all previous comments and a couple of blog reviews. People seem to be happy with the CBR 250R '2G'.

Looks like there might not be any Japanese competition to this segment anytime soon. So we might need to get used to the thought of a 250R '3G' version coming up in the 2020 Expo, rather than the updated 300R.

EDIT -

Adding couple of reviews, since I dont see them posted earlier -

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

I bought my 2017 RC390 4 months ago. If the CBR was available at that time, I may have even gone for it.

Well it is 7 years old, has just about half of 390's power. But it is a Honda, refined, reliable and pretty fast for its segment (top speeds will shame all other 250 singles).

To sum it up, I personally wouldn't regret that cbr300r isn't launched here. It is just 2bhp extra powerful with 30 odd cc difference. I hear 300r handles sweet. But I could say the same for my Cbr250r too(on better tyres though). Braking - no complaints Heat- what heat? Cbr250r is just about a perfect bike as it may come.

If you are a person who abides by speed limits, you don't need anything more fun than a cbr250r. And you could still be using it in 2028, when our KTMs would be running on their 3rd engine

To be honest, even I would be happy with a 26hp and 23nm Honda CBR250R (albiet with MRF Masseters and a stiffer than stock front end), as an upgrade to my Gixxer.

But on the other hand I would be ecstatic with a 30hp and 27nm CBR300R and I would jump with both happiness and ecstasy with the naked CB300R.

We all prefer to be more than just happy with our motorcycles, but as per the current situation, it seems that we may have to settle for 'only' happiness.

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

I'm seriously confused why they even bother launching it.

They should've done a KTM and atleast upgraded the bike and invested in quality dealerships before launching it.

Right now, I tear my head out everytime I take it in for service. Forget the warranty, I'll get it serviced at my old time FNG only.

The CBR mechanic at the dealer near my house is on leave. So they wouldn't even accept the bike for periodic service. All I wanted was to get the oil changed to keep the warranty. But no.

Then I came to Ganpati Honda for service. The first service advisor who turned up, asked why I had gotten the centre stand removed. It doesn't come with one, genius!!!

Then the next one was simply interested in skimming money. First he tried to sell me an AMC. Then he claims that oiling the chain is an extra service worth 150 on top of the 650 bucks they already charge. Then he tries to sell a 3M job.

No way in hell will I ever buy another premium motorcycle from Honda again.

Thanks for the wishes,

Also apologies that I have not responded to you yet on this. I do not have the pictures yet but i feel it is nothing great such as a Dominar headlamp. Even while riding it in traffic, it seems to me as effective as any other 150 cc halogen headlamp.I will upload pictures as soon as I can.

Regards
Bharath

Re: 2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh

Hello All
Just got home this beast of a machine
2018 Honda CBR 250R launched at Rs. 1.63 lakh-honda-cbr250.jpg
Upgraded from my 10 year old honda stunner.
Having experienced honda reliability (no breakdown , no failure to start absolutely nothing) next bike was always going to be a honda .
Cbr 250s are hidden away in showrooms for some strange reason.
The machine is like a well behaved puppy below 3k rpm. Once throttled it just opens up. For sure this bike loves to be driven in power mode
Loved the first ride.
