2018 Bajaj Pulsar 150 spied

Bajaj is gearing up to launch the 2018 Pulsar 150. According to a recent spy image, the new Pulsar 150 is likely to receive quite a few updates.

The 2018 Pulsar 150 seen in the spy image is finished in a dual-tone colour scheme with blue and orange decals on the front fender and tank shroud. It has a stepped seat and split grab handles. The cycle parts including the alloy wheels, suspension, engine, crankcase and exhaust are finished black. It also has a silver heat shield on the exhaust muffler. The front forks and foot pegs appear to have been upgraded as well. Also, in addition to the front disc brake, the 2018 Pulsar 150 will come equipped with a rear disc brake. That said, it is not yet known if it will come equipped with ABS.

Mechanically, the Pulsar 150 is expected to be similar to the current model. Though it will retain the same engine as the existing bike, there is no information if Bajaj would give it a revised tune. The current Pulsar 150 is powered by a 149 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, DTS-i engine which makes 13 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 13.4 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The 2018 Pulsar 150 is rumoured to be launched next week. It will compete with the TVS Apache RTR 160 and Honda CB Unicorn 160 in the Indian market.

Looking at this bike, why do I get a feeling that the old Pulsar 180 might get discontinued soon ?

Good to see rear disk brakes finally moving towards becoming a 'norm' than an exclusive offering.

This one is identical in design to the 180. I am guessing that this would be replacing the current 150 and the 180 would be discontinued as well. Since there already is hardly any price differential between the NS160 and 180.

Also BTW the PULSAR 135LS has been removed from the Bajaj Website.

Could be possible, now that Avenger 150 has been discontinued after introduction of Avenger 180.

Re: 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 150 spied

Ugh, why is Bajaj still continuing with this bike, considering it is a lot more technologically advanced (just look at Dominar!) company now. I love their NS series too and I think Bajaj should just stick to that. This bike doesn’t suit the company anymore (IMHO). I expect more from a company which made fun-to-ride motorcycles accessible to masses.

I am not sure if Bajaj has a more confused line up or Hero. May be Hero had mostly same engine but different models, here Bajaj has many engines and on top of it, models too ..

Re: 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 150 spied

Bajaj has introduced the next gen Pulsar series - NS, with new engines. But the market still believes and buys the old P150 in very good numbers. Probably that doesn’t give much confidence to Bajaj to discontinue the old models and move on.

OT: I had the latest P180 which I sold 3 years ago. I have ridden the new 200 NS. If I am buying a bike in that price range, my first choice would be the outdated P180

What to do, the masses still buy the outdated 150 more than the clearly superior NS.

Can't expect any sane business to kill its golden goose just because online threads urge them to.

Aren't the ABS mandatory for new launches post April 1, 2018 for the 2 wheelers that are >125 cc?

Edit: Just noticed that it is rumored to be launched this week
