Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

https://newatlas.com/mankame-automot...orcycle/54815/

Indian start up from Hubli, though they are yet to start, the design looks extremely promising and I am happy and proud to see that it is Indian and from Karnataka !

re: Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

Yet another startup promising the moon and requesting funding. What was the last one called? Emflux? And let's not forget Mean Metal Motors before that.

Looks like Tesla has inspired many dreamers to try their hand at taking on the established manufacturers using the electric route. Pardon my pessimistic tone, but a 2022 launch and not even a prototype to show for it- sounds totally unbelievable to me! That too for a new company.

Even more unrealistic that they already have declared the launch prices, down to the last rupee - without even building a prototype.

Edit -

Little googling shows that Swapnil Mankame, the founder of the company, just completed his BE this year - the company founded in his college third year along with his batchmate - who is the Technical specialist mentioned in the company website.

I wish them all the best, but at this point - looking nothing more than a college dream.

Wonder what does that "tank" on an E-Bike holds?

re: Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

The images shown are just drawings .. wont be surprised if they dont have even a working model at this stage. Like @CrazyDriver says, it looks more about seeking funding.

Batteries as high as the top of a 2 wheeler would be bad design. Batteries are heavy, usually they are tucked away as low as possible (to add to low center of gravity) - like in the E-Scooter that Ather is making.

In this case, its obvious that the "tank" is just cosmetic or going with the conventional (Internal Combustion) motorcycle design of today.

I wonder why they have prices in USD. Are they expecting to get initial orders/funding from US/abroad?

re: Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

There apparently on indegogo (soon it seems) by July 1st. Could be due to that for USD pricing.

https://electricmotorcycles.news/new...ric-superbike/

They came up a few weeks back, yet again cool flashy tech with no true back bone. Emflux went and what happened? Seat ergos look not great.

So true! And as is the case with almost all of them, the website has typos ("Contirbute" on their homepage).

And with due respect to the founders, both of them have just graduated from an engineering school (in 2018!!!). Their LinkedIn pages say so.

The difference that Tesla had was its first-mover advantage. Electric cars & 2-wheelers from the big manufacturers aren't that far away now.

Mean Metal - http://www.meanmetalmotors.com/public/main.php

Emflux - http://www.emfluxmotors.com/index.html

Emflux - have a prototype bike - if the pics are to be believed

Re: Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

With critical parts (motor, battery, brakes) being available off the shelf, should be easy to create a new e-bike ?
Plus that desire to work for themselves and not bother looking for job should be cool

A real one should be a commuter bike with more custom development to keep the costs down. Thats what would bring needed change to market.

Re: Mankame wants to build an Electric Bike

Just went through this thread and had a look at their website. Their FAQ section seems to be copy pasting various BHPians' posts on this thread as questions

Link to FAQ here

Sample the following questions in the FAQ:
Quote:
1.The Numbers Sound Rediculous, this is just Yet another startup promising the moon and requesting funding

*Not including answers for the sake of brevity.

It's a good sign that Mankame motors is taking the initiative to answer queries, wish they did it without typos though.

Not just first mover advantage, they have a hugely successful businessman and visionary leading them! And even then their success is not guaranteed. There is a good chance the company may fold withing the next decade.
Look at Fiskers - another startup with ex-auto executives at helm and huge funding.
Having a automobile startup is completely different ball game than an IT startup! I mean the worst that can happen to something like Flipkart is that your website crashes and is down.
But here there is a an actual chance that your product may explode
