Royal Enfield Bullet Trials details leaked

The first images of the Royal Enfield Bullet Trials had leaked online in January, 2019. Now, more details of the upcoming models have emerged.

The Royal Enfield Classic Scrambler, now launched at Rs 1.62 - 2.07 lakhs-trials.jpg

According to a media report, the Trials models are likely to be offered with optional accessories such as handlebar brace kit, rear seat cover, touring seats and engine guards.

According to a leaked image, the Trials models are likely to feature certain aesthetic updates over the standard bike. These include red or green painted frame, chrome front and rear mudguards, chrome battery box and rear-view mirrors, polished wheels and circular headlamp with either chrome or black bezel. One of the key differentiating features of the Bullet Trials is its upswept exhaust. It has conventional telescopic suspension at the front with rubber gaiters and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

Royal Enfield is expected to offer the Bullet Trials with a 346cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 19.8 BHP and 28 Nm of torque and a 499cc unit with 27.2 BHP of peak output and 41.3 Nm of torque. Both engines are likely to be paired with a 5-speed transmission.

The new white/chrome+green combo looks quirky and I quite like it. It does seem rather polarizing and might not appeal to old school tastes. Have they kept suspension setup same as the classic? It could have been a fun motorcycle had they used a few bits from the Himalayan.

Also, is it just me or does this new bike look like it's got a really large head since the headlight looks disproportionate to the rest of it's minimalist aesthetic.

This one too is fantastic and leads the way for other Indian manufacturers in this space.

There's enough accessories for the Classic owners off the shelves now,
- The short fender assembly
- Engine bash plate
- Front fork gaiters (guess this was already available)
- Raised handle bar with reinforcement brace & padding

These sort of mods are very popular with RE owners who has been bitten by the off-road bug! Contrasting chassis color from the manufacturer is a good thing with the above mods (road legal)

But I don't think the audience who want these machines will get them off the shelves. They'd love to modify it themselves as it's easily available (aftermarket) and doable!

As for the exhaust, buyers will replace it first with a smaller unit (preferably up-swept). Note the bend is in the silencer pipe end and not the exhaust pipe coming from the engine.

We can keep criticizing RE for doing these gimmicks in the form of "Trials Works Replica" but at least they are doing it! They have nothing to loose, either they sell the bike or the accessories.

Ride safe

Compared to the leaked images/Spyshots, these actual production spec images appear to be a thousand times better.

Even though quirky, those knobby tyres and contrast colour chassis, actually look quite distinctive and attractive.

Would be a shame if the machine came with dual channel ABS.

Looks delicious, would love to bash her on a rough stretch, a bit wider guards would've aided with effortless dropping and picking-up.

Cheers,

Both motorcycles come with dual-discs with dual-channel ABS as standard. AFAIK, one cannot switch it OFF either!

re: The Royal Enfield Classic Scrambler, now launched at Rs 1.62 - 2.07 lakhs

In my opinion, the only time locking up the rear wheel while riding a motorcycle on dirt is an advantage is when the rider is doing very spirited riding. (Read, "racing").

For 99% of the time, being able to lock up a wheel while the motorcycle is still in motion on dirt is not only not recommended, but it can be downright dangerous.
This is especially true when the rider locks up the front wheel.

I've seen more than a few cases where a rider would have been fine if he had not locked up his front wheel on loose dirt. Because he did, he was "high-sided" off the bike, landing on his head.

Because of this, for the vast majority of riders wanting to ride their motorcycle on dirt, anti-lock brakes are a definite advantage over standard brakes.

To give you people something to think about, did you ever wonder why the front brake on a racing dirt bike has such a small brake on it?
That's right. It's an old fashioned way to keep the front wheel from locking up under hard braking.

Now that we have ABS, locking up the front wheel and yes, the rear wheel isn't going to cause us to crash.

I agree with you about the front wheel. Locking the rear wheel is dangerous? Maybe. But, it's also super fun. You should try it sometime.

I agree with AP. It should either not get the rear ABS or at least the rear one should be switchable. The 390 Duke has switchable ABS with 3 modes. ON, OFF and SUPERMOTO. In Supermoto mode, only the front is enabled. If it were that risky, then KTM wouldn't have incorporated it straight from the factory.

As far as the front wheel ABS is concerned, it all depends on the calibration. I once locked up the front wheel of my SF FI ABS in an emergency and the ABS kicked in. I could tell that it's being conservative. It increased my braking distance. I felt like I could have stopped shorter without the ABS - at least in that particular situation.

You have a better chance of steering the vehicle away from an obstacle while braking with ABS. That's priceless. But it doesn't necessarily reduce the braking distance.
