TVS is launching their Apache 180 soon with front and rear discs, digital odo, oil cooled, mono shock, front upside down tubes and at a very realistic price below the Bajaj 220 price tag , expected jan end, this is inside news

This sounds too good to be true, and why hasnt Bajaj make a press release out of this yet?

Mpower , Bajaj had actually given an half page ad long time back in TOI.
So i guess it took Bajaj 2-3 months for actaul launch.
But finally after a year long wait its out , frankly ,i dont care if there is no press release or no impacting ads.its the machine and its power that matters .

There is the p180 already to compete with that...

By the way, 180 cc frankly doesnt need rear discs...

And would be suicidal if they price 180 cc bike even above P200...

Thats a Pulsar 200. The pulsar 220 has a karishma style half fairing which seems like an aftermarket add-on. Makes the engine and tank look even smaller.

I wouldnt say that, better braking power is always welcome.

The P200 has been launched in Ltd numbers in Pune Only(around 25-40 I belive but not too sure). The reasons are best known to company, some say its been launched in this manner to gauge public responce(10 have already been booked).

Seem like they are beta testing on Pune

but if you introduce rear discs most people will lock the rear (most still do even with the drums) rather than benefiting from the better braking power!

Similar reasoning was given when front discs were introduced, infact people said that bikes would turn over on hard braking.

Its all about getting used to thats all

I have locked my front wheels a couple of times on my Uni but still feel rear discs is the way to go.Looks like the actual launch is gonna be in the month of Jan 2007. My question is whether the Bajaj guys are capable enuff of putting the fuel injection technology without any prior expertise, exposure and technical backup/help (say Kawasaki..). I wish they pull it off without much problems.I respect Bajaj for being so competetive and giving us indians value for money products.Hero Honda and Honda ppl are just relaxing and i guess they will realise what it will cost them sooner.Karizma was selling for almost a lakh when it was launched initially and i just hate people who take the common ppl for granted and fleece us.

All black styling isnt there on 220's???

And what all differentiates a 200 from 220 ? (apart from obvious cubic capacity and bhp figures)

The P200 has p18o\150 fairing has all black engine treatment like the p180, has split seats & grab rail like p220, it also sports an oil cooler. I am not sure but like p220 this one too sports a 120 section rear tyre

Btw the p220 does not have a kick starter
