Re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

How come you guys are getting FE figures in 30s. Duke 390 never gave these numbers, being similar engines. Or is it an issue with my bike only

If you are getting between 25 - 29 kmpl, you should be happy for your engine heath. Extracting anything more from a 373cc may actually affect the engine adversely. Also these digital console fuel gauges are very erratic, interceptor 650 winning the cup on fuel gauge weirdness.

BHP-ian rb2399 gets ~28 kilometers to a liter in his V-Storm while touring and I get 25 kmpl< and lesser on the FZ-25, so, it is really weird.

There are a lot of other factors that also contribute to fuel mileage, like sprocket, engine gearing, your own weight, throttle management, brake management, and engine maps as well.

My erstwhile versys used to give me 24-26 all the time, and Nasirkaka’s versys refused to go above 19. Imagine that..within the same generation brand of motorcycle.

If you take cruising speed as a constant , say 110-120kph the vstrom will definitely be more efficient as it'll be doing considerably lesser rpms than a fz25 at the same speed . Low cc doesn't guarantee efficiency..at what rpms they ridden at matter a lot. Some user manuals would mention the optimum rpm for cruising to get max efficiency.

Totally agree. My 1260 gives me 16-17 kmpl normally with the frantic style of riding - once when I was riding with a friend who was doing his run-in on 10R and sticking to 110-120, I saw 21-22kmpl.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

Hello! Have a few questions.

1. How to adjust the headlight beam? It's currently pointed towards the sky
2. Anyone experienced a sudden hiccup during riding? As in a loss of power for a second. Happens randomly. Not just while up or down shifting.
3. I cannot find the quick shifter in the menu anywhere. Is it enabled only after first service?

Cheers,
Hrishi

You will find a screw on the LHS of the headlamp console.
Would have to remove the deflector to insert a screwdriver to adjust the beam.

2- disable quick shifter under menu, I had the same issue when I had it enabled in first gear. Abrupt engine cut off. Once I switched off the quick shifter, this issue also has gone.

3- motorcycle, along with abs and mtc. But I guess the updates software has this disabled, for run in I guess.

Re: KTM 390 Adventure India launch confirmed. Edit: Launched at 2.99 lakh.

A friend and fellow enthusiast Reneav just shared yesterday that his N650R returns better FE than his N250R, his reply was;

Quote:
Well, i cruise at 100-120 usually. Be it the 650 or the 250

250 is at 8k rpm to run 100 kmph
650 is at 4.5k rpm to run 100 kmph
Being predominantly an interstate commuter(Chennai - Bangalore) he has to belt his N250R more compared to his N650R and as a result the latter returns better FE.

There are enthusiasts in this very forum that get same FE on their 650's compared to my single pot 220. That is just that, the more you wring the throttle the more fuel you burn.

Cheers,
A.P.

Who are you

That aside, will need to run in the bike a wee bit before we can go stress the engine out offroad. Am already itching to drop a 14t counter shaft sprocket on the front. I just need to compare the existing sprocket with the regular duke 390 to confirm its the exact same before i order one and bolt it in there. 99% it should be a drop in.

The odo sensor is on the front wheel thankfully and not attached to the front sprocket like we had on the versys. This means whatever sprocketing you do, odo numbers remain the same.

I took the bike from CHD. This issue was a bit serious on my bike and the PDI guys just ignored it even though they knew that I live 300km away from there!.

Today, I was at a service station (not CHD) with the service engineer, sat there the whole day to rectify this issue. He checked each and everything. I saw him consulting with people on phone, updating, resetting the software part... What I know now is, KTM is unaware of this issue.

This is the end result in the evening. Quick shift will be shown as disabled in the settings, but it is functional. Whatever be the case, I am not going to use it in the run in period. Anyway, the hiccup is gone with the option off.

I hope that they come up with a some solution soon.

I had already mentioned in my initial observations post. Disable QuickShiter+ and error will go away along with occasional abrupt engine cut off.

I have reported the same to KTM Indira Nagar showroom and workshop. They are saying they are yet to get an update of the OBD machine and will call me once done.

Update with regards to fuel economy, MID worst was 21 and Best was 31 Kmpl. Average came to 24 Kmpl on MID with as i please riding mostly in city and about 20 kms of highway cruising. Tank to tank refill showed 23 kmpl. So I guess MID is pretty much correct, considering the idling i have been doing being a new bike.

Filled up after couple of kms of low fuel light and it took about 10.39 liters to the top mark of the split in the filler funnel.

Quick Question: why no one is talking about turn by turn navigation on 390 Adventure? or is it also omitted from 390 adventure's feature list?

It is there. I saw it in a review. You need to install ktm application on mobile by paying some subscription fee, pair mobile and you will have navigation on bike. Looks nice on the console.
