Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 prices to drop thanks to heavy localisation. EDIT: Launched at 2.98 lakhs

Interestingly, all the dyno charts and test results that I've seen, make the Yamaha R3 look a little bad in that it is the furthest away from its claimed output figures and even speedo error is the most in its segment. No idea when Yamaha will make an R3 that truly deserves the 'R' in its name.

Width also matters. So the correct metric should be 'inseam necessary to flatfoot'. (Since it is not used/ mentioned anywhere, maybe CrazyDriver can introduce it as a TBhp exclusive).

To me, the R3 'felt' lower.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 prices to drop thanks to heavy localisation. EDIT: Launched at 2.98 lakhs

I haven't ridden a Ninja 300, but the R3 feels noticeably slower than the RC 390, both in city and highway.
Strangely enough, RC has more room in the rider seat, while R3 has a very soft seat. R3 is slight upright with closer clip ons. May be I am used to RC 390, that R3 is slightly awkward. Looks like a big bike, but actually feels very small while you are on it.

The Kawasaki dealership told that the all inclusive price of N300 is around 3.6L which includes 18k handling charges. I find that ridiculous! Would never get the bike if thats the case. I am sure they also make money on insurance and won't entertain separate external insurance.
Is it just me who feels this way!

Btw I am considering N300, R3, or the Interceptor!

Absolutely. Dealership is acting greedy no doubt. Have they given this in writing?

No, I spoke to them over the phone.
The first time I asked about the price break-up, they hanged up. I had to call again to find out!

I guess there is dealer nexus. Checked with another city as well. Kawasaki ought to intervene, else their price reduction makes little sense.

Monopolised dealership/service coupled with shady trade practices = A BIG NO! no matter how good the product is!

^ Shoot a mail to IKM and seek their explanation, if it doesn't work out, will suggest to stay away. Manufacturer siding with the dealer is a dangerous trend.

One of my dear friend and a BHPian has taken delivery of his V-650 yesterday. There was malfunction light blinking, being a new dealership at Guwahati, they didn't have tools to look into it. He has got this in writing and will send it to IKM over e-mail, just to be sure.

I am waiting to see as to how does IKM responds.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 prices to drop thanks to heavy localisation. EDIT: Launched at 2.98 lakhs

So I received a link for a questionnaire/survey from Kawasaki regarding the N300. And two questions stood out :

Quote:
.Which one aspect is the most important for you as a customer?**

After-sales service

Spare parts price

Affordable maintenance cost

Warranty offer

Other:
And

Quote:
. Which color and graphic in new Ninja 300 ABS would you like to see the most?**

Lime Green

Candy Plasma Blue

Passion Red

Ebony Black

Metallic Moondust Gray

Pearl Stardust White

Other:
I'm rather impressed by the fact that Kawasaki is taking cognisance of the fact that their spare parts and service costs are very high. Let's see if any action follows this survey. I hope they can bring the maintenance costs on par with the R3. And yes, Kawasaki please, please please bring the Red colour too!!

The on road price in Mumbai is 3.67 lakhs. I'm assuming that this includes the handling charges as well. The price break up given to me over WhatsApp was this:

Ex showroom 2,98,000
Insurance 9,500
Rto 59,500
Total on road 3,67,000

If they do not waive off handling charges, it's bye bye Kawasaki from me.

I had received a quote from Kawasaki Pune for Z900 where they had mentioned a substantial amount against Handling Charges which is non-negotiable too.

Best is to self register the vehicle and knock-off the amount if possible.

Cheers,
Amey

Handling charges are waived off if you are persistent. That is, if you explicitly say you are not going ahead of this isn't waived off or as the last resort, a mail to the concerned manufacturer should help.

If the manufacturer doesn't support, that is enough of an alarm.

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 prices to drop thanks to heavy localisation. EDIT: Launched at 2.98 lakhs

There are multiple articles in Team BHP itself on handling charges. Just search & see how people have fought for it.
In some states there has been ruling to mark handling charges as illegal.
Best way is to reach out to the manufacturer. Else if dealer is giving a receipt for handling charges, same can be taken to consumer court.

Got the survey too. Happy to see them addressing the main pain points associated with the brand. Since they are working hard on ramping up their facility here to move away from the CKD process, we hope to see more products going the ZX-10R, N300 way. (Versys 300 next?? :P)

How much is the tax on 2 wheelers <300cc in Maharashtra? Isn't it 18%?

For ex showroom 2.98 Lakhs, that should be ~54K. Can someone confirm please?

Re: Kawasaki Ninja 300 prices to drop thanks to heavy localisation. EDIT: Launched at 2.98 lakhs

Did a quick calculation on vahandotgovdotin website for a new bike and tax calculation comes to 11% for N300. So, yes they are charging a lot of extra money!

Another point about survey we received, one point about the features mentioned about LED headlamps. So the new model will be equipped with that? AFAIK, there were no changes in those dept! Or may be it was a mistake? They also mentioned 'Heat Management' as 'Head Management'

Mods: Please merge it with the previous post. I cannot.

Thanks. Clarifies the LED headlamp point!
It's actually a 'workaround' by Kawasaki to reduce costs isn't it
