I wouldn't bet on this. Reasons being:

1. We all know the time gap between new launches and their availability in India. Plus strategies by these brands always defy logic (Honda )

2. Launch a new model ( even if within a year of launching the new R3) just with slipper clutch, VV tech, LED lamps AND increase the price when they are already 50K pricier than N300 which comes with slipper clutch, ABS etc?? Any buyers??

3. Launch a slightly better bike cheaper than existing one within 6 months? Piss off existing buyers!

If they had any such plans, they could have held back the launch of ABS R3 for a couple of more months as they were off sales since APR last year.

The points you have quoted are very valid & definitely Yamaha team would be in same dilemma. But I guess if Yamaha were seeing N300 as a competition they for sure have missed that a price reduction for N300 was on cards.

I can believe that there would be many others who would be in same state of mind whether to go for R3 or N300 or G310R. N300 being the sweetest of all considering price, engine & styling.

What Yamaha did was surely a great update too! They added Metzeler tyres instead of MRFs and included the much needed ABS as standard - all for zero added costs. N300 looked dead against this updated R3.

Probably they didn't expect Kawasaki undercutting them by a good 50k margin within a couple of months.

Not really. The new one is ~20k costlier than the older one.

Definitely they got caught off-guard! Guess that's how Ninja attack works?

If you ask me to simplify the situation, I have this -
  • N300 is not cheaper by R3 by 50K. It's actually cheaper by somewhat ~80K because:
Kawasaki not only reduced the price by 62K but also added ABS. By Kawasaki standards, it wouldn't be any cheaper than ~30K, had it been an add-on. No one is taking that into account.
  • You can definitely live with a lesser GC,MRFs and missing gear indicator lest you plan to continously tour Himachal, Leh or Nepal. And if you are a track person, RC390 should be your weapon!
  • N300 deliveries will be starting soon. So, not even a long waiting as it was earlier.
  • Both are extremely good machines, capable to giving identical pleasure in normal running conditions.
And yes, about G310R - its not even a competition. I will buy Yamaha FZ25 eyes closed instead.

Loved this sentence - makes more sense if you want to tour. Though the fun of a Twin can't be matched by a single.

ACI review is out.

FINAL CALL

Quote:
The Kawasaki Ninja 300 has always been a well-rounded product and the Rs 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom) price tag, in addition to ABS, has added impressively to its value. Quality hasn’t been noticeably affected and the only aspects to consider are the relatively small dealer network and Kawasaki’s typically high service and ownership costs. However, if you are in the hunt for an entry-level twin-cylinder sports bike, the 2018 Ninja 300 is a very tempting option, indeed.
Not surprising, this one will definitely get in the numbers.

Re: A Close Look: The 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 300 ABS

Has any of the BHPians or their friends/family members have taken the delivery? Want to know the response of the dealers on 'Handling Charges'. Apparently, they try to slip everything under RTO charges for unsuspecting customers, quoting between 45K-65K as RTO fee!

Talk about making hay while the sun shines. Illegally that is! The Kawasaki dealers dont usually budge on these illegal handling charges and their attitude has been, if you want it, you buy it.

Here in Kerala, they have baked in the handling charges into the ex showroom amount since they cant legally add handling charges. The new 10R has the ex showroom inflated by Rs 50K in Kerala.

He says the prices reduced as it became a CKD now. But wasn't it already a CKD and now is locally manufactured hence the price reduction?

Its 3.5L OTR Bangalore, whereas R3 is 4.3L. Is R3 worth the extra 80k now?
