FB Mondial to launch the HPS 300 in association with Kinetic

After acquiring Hyosung, Kinetic owned Motoroyale group is bringing (another!) lesser known Italian brand, FB Mondial to India. They will start with the HPS 300, which is actually a 250cc motorcycle. The bike is a really cool looking cross between a cafe racer and a scrambler and will arrive via the CKD route mid September, with a tentative price of INR 3 lakhs.

It’s powered by a Piaggio-sourced 249cc, liquid-cooled motor. The single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine produces 25.3PS of power and 22Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 41mm USD fork at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by a 280mm single disc up front and a 220mm rear disc brake, with ABS as standard. The FB Mondial HPS 300 rides on spoke wheels which are wrapped with a 110/90 18 tyre at the front and a 130/70 17 tyre at the rear. Seat height is set at 785mm and the motorcycle weighs 135kg (dry).

FB Mondial is one of the oldest Italian motorcycle manufacturers in existence. The company was founded in 1929 by the Boselli brothers Luigi, Carlo, Ettore and Ada. FB stands for ‘Fratelli Boselli’ which translates to Fratelli Brothers. FB Mondial is a lesser known Italian motorcycle manufacturer, which was brought back to life once again in 2014. Between 1949 and 1957, FB Mondial won the legendary Isle of Man TT thrice, and also registered five more manufacturer and rider victories.

Kinetic seems to be targeting profitability in this superbike game with less numbers to play with - by assembling multiple brands under one roof. Hyosung and FB Mondial as you mentioned, alongwith others like MV Agusta, Norton and SWM as of now.

Five brands under a roof - now thats something no one else has tried earlier. Hope the business plan succeeds - as it sounds good on paper.

Keeping an inventory of different spare parts for each bike/brand will be a nightmare. And if they don't keep a large inventory, customer satisfaction will suffer.

Thats common for every brand Smartie. Hard to expect an inventory of spares for such bikes - unless its for common items like oil and filters. Service costs are high as well - as they need to support the infrastructure with limited numbers of scale.

Motoroyale is dealing with brands which might have a much lesser brand following than the likes of Harley, Triumph and Kawasaki - hence it makes sense for them to group them all together in a multibrand showroom.

re: FB Mondial to launch the HPS 300 in association with Kinetic

One or two strange observations-
1. Who are these MBA kids advising the purchase of Hyosung and now whatever this brand is. Are they seriously employed with a salary by Kinetic or are the owners of Kinetic doing this harakiri all by themselves?
2. yet another 300cc bike, but :facepalm I didnt hear a comparison to RE- did i miss something here. How will they survive if they dont expect to say something about RE.

Very puzzled Sunday.
