re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 1 year & 10,000 km up!

Congrats! for me this is the best single under 300CC that money can buy. My multiple attempts to buy this bike at different intervals failed either due to a long waiting period or non availability of the ABS model ( I was offered the Repsol edition which I never liked).
I love this bike for its light clutch, and reliable and capable engine and a good service network. There is nothing fancy in this bike yet looks very classy from every angle, I specially like the side view of the bike. Fit and finish is top notch indeed.
I remember reading a thread here about a user getting sick of its reliability and selling it off ( from what I recall it was a grey colour CBR250R). legend stories don't fade away,
long live the CBR

You should buy a shield for the radiator, small stones which stick to tyre and fly up can cause damage to naked radiator. I am sure it'll be available in the market or you can even get it custom fabricated with steel net, considering that replacing the radiator costs 6k.

Awesome review, mate. This bike has always been my favourite ever since my school days. In fact, I looked at a few pre-owned ones a few months back but later dropped it as I would be out from the country for most times in a year. If ever I get one, it’d be in the original red/silver combo which they launched way back in 2011

Lovely choice. Wish you 1,000's of fuss free, safe and happy miles.
Its one of the best 250cc till date. During my Karizma days, i was pretty sure that the CBR250 would be my next upgrade.

In the mean time, Yamaha launched the FZ25. Actually i craved to buy a Yamaha for a long time. So after the launch of the FZ25, i simply bought it without considering any other bike. Plus when i bought the FZ25, CBR250's production had a temporary halt for the BSIV up-gradation.

Sharing a pic of my FZ25 with Bhpian SvkRiders's CBR250.

Lovely review mate. And this one is quite important to me because I am also looking into buying a used CBR 250R here in Bangalore. Initially I was not a fan of its design but then with time it grew on me and now it's one of my favourites.Such matured and elegant design, light clutch, engine refinement, ABS and that Honda reliability.

re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 1 year & 10,000 km up!

Nice to see this thread. I am in the process of stepping down from my Benelli TNT 300 to the 2018 CBR 250R ABS.

I am excited to have the such a well renowned bike to my self.
I could not find a trust worthy pre-owned CBR, so decided to sell the Benelli and get the new CBR.

A few questions
- How are the vibrations on a 30k run CBR?
- The riding position is front biased on the CBR, does it take a toll on the wrist ? - Is the a place to install the charger & mobile holder (as the CBR has split handle bars)?

Thanks.

Somehow I am trying to compare the above with the Benelli. It might sound injustice as the Benelli is a twin and CBR is a single cylinder bike. But, for me its just the matter of affection towards the Benelli.

I owe you a lot, Prasanna!! I doubt if it wasn't for you, I'd have bought a CBR. And thanks a lot for confusing me even more during the entire process.

That's some solid running you have! I do around 500 kms on an average, when I calculate it for the last 4 months.

It's a pain to procure one, but you just start loving it, once it's with you.

I had this thought and even noticed this site with the stuff.

https://carbonracing.in/collections/cbr-250r-collection

However, I was advised to check the stuff in person before ordering online, just to verify the quality. Has anyone got an experience dealing with Carbon Racing?

This bike came and went to my list just like that. I was put off with lack of ABS and 6th gear and hence didn't consider it - same for the faired version too.

Spoiler alert : Most of the owners are snobbish - I had even contacted some in Bangalore; they don't believe in the courtesy of responding to an interested buyer - but if you find a well maintained one, grab it at the right price.

I doubt any new vibes have been introduced since it's covered 30K kms, but then I haven't driven a new one. There is this tingling sensation in your both palms after riding hard for 30 odd mins and goes off in 5 mins (just like the palms became numb).

I'm a tall guy @ 6'2", so the riding position is not very committed. I do get some pain in the left wrist, but never had a problem in the right one - there are some tips the experienced riders can give on the position and ergonomics. I am not sure of giving a correct input on this one.

re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 1 year & 10,000 km up!

***Update :: Mechanical Oil Seal replacement.***
  • Service Centre :: Didar Honda, Egmore.
  • Part : The part was procured from Tansi Honda, Bangalore thru a bhpian rksans as we couldn't find the part in almost entire TN. Karthik (the famous CBR mech) helped to procure it and they couriered the part to Chennai after making an online payment.

I had a chat and was told the work will take around 3-4 hours and Saturday would be tough to get this done. So, I left the bike at the centre on Friday morning 8.45 and told them I'll take delivery on Saturday morning.

While reaching, was told the brake pads need replacement (by an SA), but I checked with Mr. Rajasekar and told him to do that only if absolutely necessary.

Paid a total bill of Rs.700/- which was majorly labor costs + water wash (Rs. 150/-). Since the oil spill happens only when I push the bike hard, will have to wait for a long trip before I confirm the fix.

Mechanical seal and related parts

re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 1 year & 10,000 km up!

Congrats for the bike.

It is a good bike, best suited for highways. I intend to do justice to the bike and use it more.

Your bike looks beautiful in full red and black alloys. I did not like the intial design with silver panels and silver alloys and changed everything to black later.

Keep the thread updated. Wish you all the best.

Good; congratulations & welcome to the C250R family; if you take care of the bullet proof engine, it takes care of you very well & most importantly USE IT, otherwise, it's prone to give you minor headaches in long run.

*** Bike Detailing ***

A detailing session was in order from the time I bought the bike. Did check with 3M in Thiruvanmiyur and also OCD @ Adyar. While 3M denied 2 wheeler, OCD gave an expensive quote (as usual with them). Didn't feel it worth, so was hunting for options.

My friend suggested "Incredible" during a conversation and this shop is in Besant Nagar. I went there over after getting the bike from service and I am so delighted with the work, that I created a thread in the team-bhp directory section with all details.

I guess am starting to have a taste of this. Noticed a lot of oil spill near the side stand area - thought it could be something the detailing guys used as the bike was sent there after the servicing.

But even after a week, the oil spills continue to remain a concern and I took some pics last night.

Sent to to the A$$ and also spoke to them, Mr. Rajasekhar mentioned one of the oil rings may not have been fit well and asked me to bring the bike for fixing this.

Another 3-4 hours added to the list to get this fixed - may be tomorrow morning itself.

Oil spill near the stand. There are two patches as the bike was moved after seeing the first one, to check the leakage.

I feel the enthusiasm but you have to zoom back a bit and evaluate the money v/s fun quotient.

Also rather than spend moolah on niceties you could invest in hardware and learn to work on your own motorcycle, especially since the CBR250R is kinda like the entry-point to international lifestyle motorcycling considering all the necessary contents are just a few clicks away.

Here's a video of Ari Henning rebuilding a CBR250R in his garage;

Now, that's the life!

Ride hard and safe.

Thanks, am not a hands on guy and prefer to get these done by the centre itself. Why pay a premium for the bike & service if I am ok to get my hands dirty!
