Great! I'd still suggest either run the current oil till you complete 1000 KMs and again check the condition of the oil.

What all did you carry out in this service?

re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 3 years & 20,000 km up!

Had left the bike with Motodynamics for the oil spillage issue, which was diagnosed as the oil filter gasket issue. That was replaced and I have ridden a little, yet to check for any leakages.

The bike has become rather smooth after the initial rough feel, accelerates well but gear shift is a lit clunky.

Invoice attached. Labor has been a bit high as I had asked them to dismantle the panels and also replace as many rusted bolts.

PS:: Part procurement is a serious pain point with Honda but Motodynamics has been supportive in fetching as much as they can. I was really thinking of CB500x whenever they launch but have stricken that off my list with the service experience with CBR.

Hey brother,

This was the exact reason I had to part with my CBR 250R.
I really did not imagine you would have issues with the CBR. I hope everything is fine and you clock thousands of peaceful km in the coming days.

re: Pre-worshipped 2013 Honda CBR 250R ABS. EDIT : 3 years & 20,000 km up!

No major news. Had a fall from the bike few months back, few panels chipped, and one of the rear view mirror broke as it was a low speed fall. Had left it for service at Motodynamics but somehow I felt it wasn't right when I received the bike back. It was straining too much beyond 80 kmph and hence looked for a CBR specialist and was pointed to 'Kingston' who is a Honda specialist and owns a CBR 250 himself. Left the bike with him and most things were sorted.

I still feel it's not as tight as I'd like and some noise from the chain area but the bike is eager till 100 kmph and goes a little more. I haven't had a chance to push it in free highways yet but happy with the power on tap.

Likes about Kingston
  • Honest & down to earth
  • Takes only one bike at a time
  • He works on the bike himself, no assistants
  • Only bare minimum replacements as required, keeps upfront about the changes
  • Very reasonable labour rates
What can be better
  • Too far for me (he is near Maduravoyal)
  • Takes a little time and no same day delivery in most cases
  • No hi-fi gadgets / equipments (adds to the effort / time)
----------------------

Current ODO : 49,451 kms

The bike hasn't seen any major miles in the last year as a big brother joined the garage for highway trips. I didn't sell the CBR for few reasons
  • Still a soft spot in my heart
  • The thing is FUN-TO-RIDE !!
  • Size (engine & bike) is a beautiful compromise for city & highway
  • Poor re-sale which means, I have to spend more money if I have to purchase a scooter for city runs, with actually no benefits over the CBR
I'll still hold on to it till I am in TN - might change my mind to sell it only if it's too much of a pain in case of a transfer to another city.

Got a puncture and got it fixed at home by a mobile puncture mechanic. Was done in flat 10 mins and Rs. 150/-

PS : The best mechanic for CBR from my experience is still Karthik (Highlander, Bangalore, ex Tansi Honda). He's expensive, goes a little overboard with replacements, but the bike comes back as a beauty the way it runs !! I might ride to Bangalore for a service at his place to sort out everything and bring back the bike only for regular service / replacements that can be done in Chennai after that.
