Re: 2019 Yamaha R3 unveiled

Looks like that is it for the current gen Yamaha R3. They kept the old model in production from Indonesia just for the Indian market while rest of the world got the upgraded version.

The YZF R3 has been officially removed from the Yamaha India website and by the looks of it, India will have to wait till rest of the world is updated to BS6/EU5/EU6, which would be approximately later this year/early next year.

Assuming the Ninja 300 is getting the BS6 update, then it will be the only Japanese twin available in the sub 500cc category unless Honda plans to spoil the party with the CBR 250RR.

This was clarified by Yamaha earlier when they took wraps of new face-lifted FZ25 BS6. Announced to be released in April, but might be delayed due to the pandemic. So once its on sale, the site would be updated.

The 2020 Yamaha FZ 25 now meets the BS6 emission norms, and also gets a new range-topping FZS 25 version. Prices are yet to be announced with the FZ 25 scheduled to go on sale in April this year

Re: 2019 Yamaha R3 unveiled

Very unhappy with Yamaha. Was expecting the Mt3 to be launched in India along with the R3 but no word on that either. And they have been just reducing the power of all their BS6 bikes while almost every one else has maintained the bhp over the old Bs4 versions.

Re: 2019 Yamaha R3 unveiled

I hope seeing the success of ninja 300 that would eventually bound to happen going by the news of localisation from Kawasaki, yamaha will atleast try to bring the R3 again if not locally manufacturing it. The MT03 if launched I wish comes with all kit of the R series instead of how the MT15 is treated currently.

No news yet. I think Yamaha has no interest in re-launching the R3 here. Even if they do, they need to have a separate sales and ASS network for their big bikes like what Honda is doing. I am not okay with purchasing a 4 lakh + motorcycle and getting poor treatment from their existing ASCs. Adding a blue theme to existing showrooms and ASCs and calling it 'Blue Square' is just not enough.

Every year there are discussions/rumors about its launch when Diwali is round the corner. I think Yamaha has come to a conclusion that 300cc twin cylinders won't find enough buyers. R3 is the most ideal upgrade for r15 (V1 & V2) owners. Whenever I have got the itch to upgrade from my V2, I comfort myself by saying wait for the R3 launch.

Yes, there is no lack of rumors regarding R3 launch for the past 2 years. I used to constantly look for any news regarding the launch. But not anymore. If Yamaha is not willing to consider the enthusiasts here then there is no point in waiting for their big bikes.

I am thankful to Honda. They are selling commuters where the sales volumes matters and at the same time they do sell their big bikes here(at a very hefty premium but at least they do).

Kawasaki Ninja 300 is selling in decent numbers even though it is outdated in terms of tech. Because of lack of competition from others. A big chunk of market share is taken by Royal Enfiled with their Interceptor 650/GT 650. Not in terms of engine capacity but in terms of the price segment. If Yamaha launched the updated R3 here and undercut Ninja by at least 10K then it would have been a different story altogether. A lot of potential buyers of RR310, CB300R, Interceptor 650/GT 650, and Ninja 300 would have also considered R3. It is now or never.
