Yes very much Indian and the name ( In my view ) is most likely a derivative of the Yazidi/Yezidi ( an ethnic group from Persia/Iran ). Recall the Ideal Jawa owner was a Parsi

If I recall right, even IDEAL JAWA is an Indian company. Jawa is the Czech brand. The parent was never called IDEAL JAWA - only the Indian company had the "Ideal" name.

The Yezdi ( if relaunched ), should be set aside for a tourer/adventure bike in my view. the original Yezdi ( though not built in that configuaration ) had those knobbly tires like offroad tyres.
This will ensure the Yezdi brand and Jawa brand just don't have "me too" bikes but have clearly defined segments to cater to.

Re: After Jawa, Classic Legends confirms the revival of BSA & Yezdi

Trivia:

JAWA( Janeček + Wanderer) must actually be pronounced as YAWA -- because the founder's name "Janeček" must be pronounced as "yanechek".
While launching "jezdi", which translates to "rider" I believe in Czech, they wanted the Indians to pronounce it right, and named it as "Yezdi".

Edit: I actually did a translation check and "jezdi" translates to "rides" Czech to English
