I have a strange observation to share as well. Recently I went to get my Street Twin's PUC done and after seeing my twin exhaust the staff said he wouldn't do it. When I asked him why, he checked whether it was BS4 or BS6. When I told him it was BS4 he proceeded to check so I asked him what happens to BS6 engines and he said that will require two probes. I went about my business thinking maybe this guy is just fooling people. |
I think I remember the PUC person saying same and one PUC center at a petrol pump even directly denying to do it on my BS6 bike.
Just took delivery of a 2 year old NOS Interceptor 650 that was sitting in a dark container somewhere in the port of Yokohama.
This is the pre-LED version and originally came in Ventura Blue. The dealer did a free tank swap to a colour of my choice (I chose Glitter & Dust).
I got the dealer to fit a USB-C charging port and an older style Dual Touring Seat, as I prefer the checkered design over the newer ones.
Meet
Seiya 星夜 (pronounced ‘Say Yeah’) meaning ‘
Starlit Night Sky’ in Japanese.
Hey guys,
I'm looking to change the endcans on my interceptor to AEW or Powerage, I have heard AEW and ridden it extensively on the Shotgun 650, will the sound be same on an interceptor as well?
I like the bassy deep note, like a ripping/tearing sound when loud like those straight piped harleys.
No DB Killers in the Shotgun I'm talking about

It's the the side stand switch, which seems to be a magnetic one. The sensor is located behind the stand.
From the service manual, Attachment 2571090 |
Can you share the service manual here please

Why did you choose a Royal Enfield in Japan? I believe that for a similar price, there should be more options from Japanese manufacturers that are not available in India!

Quite simple to be honest. It’s what the heart wants - there is no place for logic in this case as you know. :)

I guess, for the same reason that someone buys a Honda in India lol:
Bikes and passion don't look for reason!
Enjoy the rides and the music of the Twins!

He was born and brought up here in India and always has the option to come back and getting an interceptor here is not going to be an issue. Many models are available in Japan which is not here in India so usually when one gets an opportunity to live somewhere else being an enthusiast usually will go for something that only can be experienced there, hence the question

I Agree.
Alloys and Tubeless tyres
I had purchased the Vredestein Centauro tyres and original Royal Enfield alloy wheels in early January. Since the Ceat tyres had a bit of rubber left, I delayed putting on the alloys till today.
The rear Ceat lasted just 8500 kms while the front has a couple of thousand kilometres left. The rear was squishing on acceleration and I lost confidence.
Switched the tyres today and rode for 20 kms. I am very impressed. I now realise what I have been missing the past 33 k kilometres.
Some pictures of the original tyres, the Vredestein tyres and the bike with the alloys mounted.
Cheers

I did the same last year, however I could only ride in city after that. Last time when I took it to highway after the alloy/tyre swap bike was rattling around the speeds of 110km/hr. I wasn't feeling confident to ride above that speed.
I suspect it requires a wheel alignment.
Anyone in Bangalore knows a good FNG, which does wheel alignment for 2 wheelers?
Can you tell us how many kilometres you have ridden since the wheel swap? That could be helpful.
I think there are a few super bike service centres and tyre service centres in Bengaluru which can do this service for you. Please check Madhu"s tyre centre. Hope someone from Bengaluru can help you out.
Cheers

I have been using the silent baffle for a while now. After using it for few thousand kms, I didn't feel like going back to the open type baffle only because I felt the NVH was more with that. On these, the smoothness is very close to the stock muffler which is what I wanted and the main reason being that these create back pressure in the system which helps in the long run.
I have made the holes on the baffle slightly bigger after getting the FuelX fitted as I felt the there was vibrations at a certain rev range and with that, the quiet note is gone and it is slightly bassier, but still not loud. When I open up, it has a nice note too, not annoying. |
Are the baffles closed off at the end facing the exhaust to create the back pressure you're talking about? Or are they open as usual? Would be perfect if someone were able to share pics of the same...

Yes, it is closed at the inside end which creates the back pressure and more smoothness because of that.
