Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

I think this is the case with any exhaust, I can say this cause I still have an ugly burn mark from a Hero Puch from back in mid-'90s.

I am contemplating on Interceptor as an option however yesterday I came across a review which stated that the twin exhaust system tends to get heat up pretty quick especially in the city and since it has no protection so pillion if he/she is not alert can end up with a burn while getting down. Is this a correct observation ? If yes then what are the options to rectify this, I don't see any official exhaust heat shield kind of accessory on RE website.

Exhaust heat is not specific to Interceptor. Any exhaust will heat up enough to burn your legs.
The Interceptor exhaust climbs up only behind the pillion foot pegs - so there is very little risk of legs touching the exhaust. Offcourse care should be maintained when getting down but this is not really a big problem.

Get a pillion footrest accessory from something like advtribe. That fixes this issue.

Not really, usually exhaust systems in all bikes even retro bikes come with some soft of heat sink/ exhaust shield/ wrap/ cover but that doesn't seem to be the case with 650 twins, please correct me if I am wrong. attaching pics of Avenger and Classic 350 for reference

As far as getting down with care is concerned, I agree this should be usually followed but it is not always possible practically.

Thanks, this seems to be a solution. I can see that RE has launched custom exhausts for classic 350 under make your bike program, let's see if something similar is extended to twins as well.

Usually the pillion will get on or get down the bike from the left side. Most bikes don't have a silencer on the left side, so yes, with the Interceptor one will need to be more careful. But I really don't think this can be a deal breaker. If the pillion happens to be the same person always, very soon they will get used to it and avoiding the silencer will become second nature.

The AEW horizontal silencers have product code TE 201. Ordered in the stainless steel version.
I have been eying the TE 201 for a while, but wanted to hear it in person before pressing the button. I like it mainly for how it looks (pea shooter-ish) and how its does not visually and physically project out a lot. I am happy with stock sound, and do not like loud pipes. If the TE 201 with DB killer is marginally louder then stock, i am game. Let us know once you receive and install it.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

Got a radiator guard from Kurashirudo, simple DIY installation, plug and play. Took all of 10 minutes. Pretty neat, certainly offers a bit more protection than the stock guard. Also comes with a 10 year warranty if I recall correctly. Bought it in a black finish, available in a steel finish as well. Will let the pictures do the talking. Comes with a bit of of foam packing that’s held in place with double sided tape, to prevent rattles.

Very responsive over WhatsApp, and order was shipped and delivered on time.

Took the stock guard out, it already had a bit of rust on it. The new guard is made from stainless steel, so that should not be an issue henceforth. Can see a slight bend in the stock guard, guessing the showroom had to do a bit of improvisation to fit it.

Have retained the stock guard for now, no complaints apart from the spot of rust, and the limited coverage of the radiator on the sides. I believe the stock guard is made of mild steel, as per the youtube reviews.

Re: Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin

A general Q - guys, what would you recommend for a good tool kit for (DIY) fitting in some extra accessories for the 650? Have bought a few, but now lying at home; and can't get myself to go to a mechanic to get them fitted

Thanks for sharing - I believe this is the 'advanced' model (1999 inr)? Just initiated the WhatsApp chat with them, unfortunately they don't seem to have the black options in stock (workers issue).

Can't be entirely sure when I say toolkits are not specific to Bikes or cars but what you can certainly assess before you buy one is the type of bolts and screws that your bike has. It will be depending on this you should be able to zero in on one kit that has it all or buy multiple sets to meet your needs.

These days most automobiles and accessories manufacturers use Allen bolts, Hex bolts and Torx bolts for fitting.

A good rachet kit to start with that would anyway come with regular sockets and then you can pick sets of sockets that fit into this separately.

I would always prefer a rachet over a screwdriver to loosen or tighten the bolts/screws as it helps a lot to apply the right amount of torque needed without damaging the heads of these fasteners.

Buy a stanley ratchet kit, a ring spanner set and you'll be all set for interceptor

This is my "Travelling Tool Kit"

Ridden: Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 Twin-capture1.jpg

It was available in Amzon India as well, a while ago (I didn't get it in India).

A useful one and most DIY maintenance could be taken care with this.

Best Regards & Drive/Ride Safe

Get in touch with them on the number provided here:https://www.kurashirudo.com. Or just search for their Instagram page, they respond on that as well. The company is based in Hosur,TN. Forgot to add, they have a lot of products for other bikes as well, i think they have some accessories for the ninja and r15 etc. saw it somewhere on their Instagram page.
