Next-gen KTM RC390 caught testing

For a moment I thought I was on the "Weird and wacky mods" thread

The RC390 was a sharp looking bike and had many fans. I don't think this is a worthy successor to the old RC390.

IMO, Hands-down worst design ever in a RC390.

I bought the BS6 version with special edition Silver colour few months ago (before the 2nd wave of Covid).

I was even advised to wait for the new 2021 version as it supposedly was going to solve the aggressive seating posture. Happy I went with my instincts and did the purchase.

While yes the bike looks like a downgrade from the current spec design wise, it IMHO is not as bad as the above Indian spec spy shots make it look. Maybe the camera angles are to blame for the distorted proportions.

Black looks like steam locomotive with a bulged headlamp. Orange looks like a orange hybrid fruit that wanted to grow desperately.

New KTM RC 200, RC 390 unofficial bookings open. Dealers in various cities are already accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs 1000 and Rs 5,000, with some mentioning amounts as high as Rs 10,000.

Dealers expect an official launch as early as July or August.

Scalpel scrapping gone too far, or is it. From the looks of, it doesn't seem to be an inspiring design as such. KTMs have been known for sharp and edgy design, but this seems though, it's been boxed out at weird angles. Time will tell how this will be accepted vis-a-vis the current gen RC series. This design leaves little space for solace and will definitely induce sour aftertaste among KTM purist fraternity, having a mixed bag of emotions.

Wow a really bad looking bike with equally horrendous graphics complimenting the same, KTM has truly ruined this one.

Horrendous color scheme and graphics. I some of KTM RC folks (Exhibit A) making instagram reels and this color scheme is inspired by them.

Yikes!

Also the design language over generations has gotten worse. The first gen (and the 2nd gen) was so beautiful.

Very interesting. The front forks seem to have preload and rebound dampening adjustments. Thats a big upgrade. Also if gets the electronics package like the 390 Adventure it will be really be a well rounded out package. Add to that is the dash like the Duke 390. That’s significant upgrades.
