re: Scoop! Yamaha MT15 spotted testing in India EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 1,36,000 (ex-showroom)

I am following this launch very closely. Infact did check with couple of dealers this morning who have confirmed the launch between mid Feb and March.

In the above attachment the engine is shown as BS-IV. Does that mean yamaha will update the engine against next year ? Is the R15 v3 a BSIV or BSVI compliant engine ?

Why can't they just come with BSVI when they are taking their sweet time for the launch.

Its actually BS4 currently, they will come up with BS6 just before the official roll out of those norms. The engines might already be BS6 ready though right now. Usually manufacturers save some money by doing this.

It will be interesting how the MT15 slots between FZ15 and FZ25. The FZ15 too costs above 1L on the road now. Wont be buying it, I am happy to keep my 9 year old R15 running

ZigWheels made a walkaround of the Indonesian version.

Rumour: Yamaha MT-15 launch on March 15, 2019. Bookings open

According to a media report, some Yamaha dealerships have started accepting bookings for the MT-15. The booking amount for the bike is Rs. 2,000-10,000 depending on the dealer. The launch of the bike is reported to take place on March 15, 2019.

The Yamaha MT-15 is essentially a naked version of the R15 V3.0. It was unveiled in Thailand last year. Spy images suggest that the India-spec MT-15 could miss out on some features including an upside-down fork front suspension.

The MT-15 is expected to be powered by the same BS-IV compliant 155.1cc, single-cylinder petrol engine as the R15 V3.0. According to a 'Type Approval Certificate', the engine produces 19 BHP @ 10,000 rpm. It is expected to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The MT-15 is likely to get disc brakes at both ends and ABS.

Armada Blue is surely becoming a common color across all Yamaha models.

Thumbs up..

But have to say that USD Forks (or the absence of it) does makes a lot of visual impact. Would have loved it on the Indian version as well.. even at 10-15K premium.

Agreed. It's a shame actually. But having USD on MT would have meant having it on R15 series as well and all this in the name of cost cutting.

Just curious, do you still have a motorcycle?
If not, get one. The Delhi xBhp G2G thread is bearing a deserted look without you.

Or, alternatively, we can start a Team-BHP Delhi G2G thread.

Apologies to Mods in case this seems OT.

To answer your question HyperRetard, I currently don't own a motorcycle, last one (A HRC Edition CBR250) was sold way back in 2015. Bikeless for a really long time.

As far other bhp's Delhi G2G thread is concerned, it was good fun when it lasted. We can surely start a thread for tbhp Delhi Chapter G2Gs.

re: Scoop! Yamaha MT15 spotted testing in India EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 1,36,000 (ex-showroom)

Launched just few minutes back: Link AUTOCARINDIA

Price: 1,36,000 INR (Ex-Showroom)
ABS: Single Channel
Colors: Black and Matte Blue

I know it's got a gem of an engine and chassis of the R15 (probably the best 150 cc in the world)

But at 1. 3 Lakh... isn't that a bit too costly? Might make the 2019 Dominar look good.

Its Cheaper than the R15 by just Rs 3,000. The R15 with the Aluminium Swingarm (the MT just has a box section) and Dual ABS - not to mention the DHOOM Fairing also would look better value to most.

A price difference of at least 15K between the MT15 and R15 was logical and ideal.

re: Scoop! Yamaha MT15 spotted testing in India EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 1,36,000 (ex-showroom)

Optimistic pricing, I would say! Though the bike looks stunning and unlike anything else in this segment, I was expecting it to be a bit more cheaper than the R15. And they should have retained the R15's dual-channel ABS setup, instead of going with a single-channel one.

The seating posture looks a bit less committed than the R15, so I guess it'd be appreciated by customers who prefer a comparatively upright seating posture.

The R15 has it's own share of cult following, hence I don't see a lot of people opting for the MT15 since it's priced so close to the R15. At this price, I'd rather go for the Apache RTR200 or even Yamaha's own FZ-25, which has that torquey 250cc motor.
