re: Honda confirms CB300R for India; bookings open. Edit: Launched @ 2.41L

Oh come on, Honda has mentioned about the IMU even in their press release, calling it a segment first feature. So I guess Autocar is just speculating based on the fact that most manufacturers remove such features when it comes to India, to keep costs in check.

Thanks for the pointers!

I searched Honda website for the press release information on CB300R and I could find the information on IMU.

Indeed, they are going to provide this feature in the upcoming bike.

For reference, I have attached the picture and site address.

It was a misleading information from author of the news from Autocar regarding the same.

I hope it helps!

re: Honda confirms CB300R for India; bookings open. Edit: Launched @ 2.41L

The bike looks neat and specs sound good. It would be a great idea to upgrade from my unicorn 160. I am craving for a bike with better build quality. What concerns me though is the service part. For my unicorn, I never went to Honda service centres after 3 free services. The reason was, the service guys never seemed to listen to my problems. Instead they were more interested in selling me their AMCs. Later, I found many Honda owners from xbhp are also getting their services done from outside garages.

My point is - I would understand for bikes like unicorn/activa, they get huge volumes to service and would not care too much as long as the bike serves the purpose of average commuter. However, for performance bikes, I would expect even the smallest concerns to be addressed in an appropriate way. Can we rely on Honda ASS for that? Because, I would not want to take my CB300 to any other garage than Honda authorized centres. Any comments from CBR250 owners?

300R is considered a 'Super Bike' under Honda series, and therefore sold and serviced by the premium wing world network only.

650F owners would be in a better position to comment on service satisfaction, rather than 250R. And AFAIK - they are a happy lot.

Remember that C250R could be serviced by any Honda ASC nationwide that sells C250R. For instance in Chennai, C250R is sold by SVM Honda, JSP Honda, Didar Motors, Surya Honda, Kun Honda, Global Honda, Akshaya Honda, BM Honda, Balaji Honda & the list goes on.

While for CB 300R, the only dealer is SVM Honda & in order to retain warranty for minimum of 2 years or whatever HMSI says, the vehicle has to be serviced only by SVM Honda.

Going by Indian standards of servicing, I like to have a plenty of servicing centers than relying upon one dealer to have warranty for 2 years or struck to one & only guy for next 5 years on extended warranty.

But that's me

Ideally C250R & C300R have the same engine with just 37cc difference, otherwise mechanical is the same (shim & DOHC), so any C250R trained guy can service C300R as well, just that, it may be denied warranty claim if at all someone gets to know.

Spotted a tastefully DIY'd one of a kind CB250R owned by an enthusiast, thought I'd share the pictures here just to give a glimpse of what could have been.

Silicon Honda Bangalore Service has been excellent and I presume it'll be the same for the 300 as well.

So finally I found some drool-worthy pictures of the CB300R in RED.

They are from a review by a Thai website called Motorival

Spoke to the Coimbatore showroom about the likely availability of the machine. This is what I understood. Others may also check with respective showrooms and confirm the same.
1. The Coimbatore showroom has already got 10 odd bookings and nationally around 250 bookings have happened. These bookings will be served first.
2. From what I understood these deliveries in itself will start around August/September.
3. Test ride vehicles will also be available around the same time only.
I do not wish to speculation train. I would request others you have also discussed with showrooms to confirm if this understanding is correct.

Good Pricing. On the expected lines, given the prices of CBR250. If the product ownership experience works out as good too, this will garner more sales and more launches from the competition

The price looks expected and looks good seen in isolation. Based on reliability and fill it, shut it, forget it usage - the CB300R is sure to sell as many CKD units as they can get to the market.

The only real issue is when comparing to the Interceptor 650 / Duke 390 - both of which offers a lot more bike for a lesser price.

On the contrary, I think this will become a very good second bike for people who already own a bigger capacity cycle and know their way around motorcycles (not a first time buyer, or a single motorcycle garage).

Slap an akra exhaust on that thing, CKD parts, Honda SBK service experience, and treat this bike to do one role properly (city blaster) I think this is a pretty good bike to go against the above.

I am extremely tempted myself.

That's brilliant pricing (for RE) which makes the Interceptor 650 twin look much more VFM than it already looks.

What are the things that the CB300R does better than the Interceptor?
- LED lighting
- Neo retro looks (as opposed to retro look from RE)
- Digital instrumentation and a console that shows more information
- IMU-enabled brakes
- Better fuel efficiency

However, the Interceptor's appeal is much stronger, especially when the price difference is just 9k!
