Re: December 2018: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

Thank you for compiling these reports, CD! It's very nice that we now have consistent Two Wheeler sales data reports being published on the forum

Now for my request, haha. Can we align the formatting and the way the graphs and tables look with the 4 Wheeler sales data reports?
Please don't take any offense to this request, as I am not trying to undermine your efforts in any way!

Reasons for request:
  1. The 2 Wheeler sales data report shows the data from Jan to Dec, whereas the 4 Wheeler sales data report shows the data from Dec to Dec, giving a more clear picture on the YOY progress
  2. The graphs and tables from the 4 Wheeler sales data report are easier to read (tables more than graphs), and look a bit neater than the graphs and tables from the 2 Wheeler sales data report

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. Will work on both before the next report gets published.

1. The report started from Jan 2018 onwards because we didn't get the data for previous month due to some technical issue - and manual collection for previous year data is still a WIP from my end. So next month onwards you can expect the data to be from Jan'18 - Jan'19 and similar going forward.

2. Will surely check with those templates and see if the tables are easier to read that way.

Regarding graphs - Do you suggest all the reports to be clubbed in a graph? Personally, I feel that will end up looking cluttered and with many lines crossing each other.

Re: December 2018: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

Wow 23.5% drop in the overall market dispatches MoM, the bloodbath continues. Some thoughts -

- For Bajaj, the venerable CT100 drops to a third of what it did in October. Thats a drop of over 62,933 units over 2 months. Good start for the Duke 125, its doing a lot better than I expected. The old cash cow, the Pulsar 220 drops by 61% as compared to October. That must be worrying Bajaj as they had to do nothing to update the decade old product but still sold them in droves. I wonder if the Duke 125 has cannibalised the Pulsar 220 sales.

- Harley Davidson had the worst month in the industry. At least it was predominantly their bigger bikes that got dispatched so thats some respite. I haven't heard of any possible causes for this so I suppose its just to avoid dealers sitting on 2018 stock in the new year.

- Hero Moto Corp's numbers for the Xtreme 200R are definitely flawed. The tests were in May of 2018, here's Overdrive's first ride review http://overdrive.in/reviews/hero-xtr...t-ride-review/ and here's an article with proof of deliveries for the 200R in July of 2018 https://news.maxabout.com/bikes/hero...0r-deliveries/.

- Kawasaki pushing 78 units of the Z900 is surprising. They did launch a 0% interest scheme recently so maybe they are trying to keep inventory prepared. Triumph had success with their entry level bikes after launching a similar scheme earlier so lets see if Kawasaki can replicate it. Also I heard H2 or H2SE got delivered recently in Kerala, let me find out if that happened or not and if the numbers on the thread are correct.

- Mahindra sent another 19 pre production units !

- Suzuki's excellent GSX S750 finally starting to bring in some decent numbers that it deserves.

And hope it is not because the dealers are already sitting on a big inventory of Streets. RE 650 is sure to affect some of their sales - so will need to watch out for future months.

Believe Autopunditz had clubbed Xtreme and Xtreme 200R under one row till last month, splitting it this time around. So we do not have the splitup of 200R sales (if any) till last month.

I wonder why, considering its widely regarded to be the best touring machine around in these forums ?

I really fear for the HD 750 twins - they don't really have much going for them compared to RE 650 twins except HD brand. I don't see them coming up big volumes anytime soon without a price correction.

I agree about the comment on 0% scheme for Z900 - definitely seems to have given a big push considering its one of the best entry level inline-4 bikes.

Didn't even know there was a scooter named Destini and that too by Hero. Guess when your relative asks you where you're travelling to, you can now say "Wherever my Destini takes me uncle"

I guess the Verys650 and Ninja 650 sales are being clubbed and reported, its hard to believe, zero sales of V650 in the last 6 months.
