Some observations:

• Ignoring the MOM increases, as Dec is usually a low sales month.
• The 2 wheeler sales trend decreases by 5.14% YOY.
• In terms of sheer volumes, Honda is the biggest loser, with a YOY loss of 88,161 units, followed by Hero with a YOY loss of 49,425 units.
• In terms of sheer volumes, Bajaj is the biggest winner, with a YOY increase of 40,247 units, followed by Suzuki with a YOY increase of 17,922 units.
• TVS: Nothing to really say, but commendable that they maintain the same market-share, when Hero & Honda have both lost out considerably.
• Royal Enfield: Though they lose some market share, the 650 twins take the market by storm, with the numbers only going up MOM.
• Harley-Davidson & Triumph: Feel the heat from the 650 twins the most, with them both losing 40-50% of their market-share. They both need to do something, and fast!
• Kawasaki: The move to localize the Ninja 300 has really paid off, and all of their YOY growth is pretty much driven by this vehicle.
• Yamaha: Demand for the FZ25 has reduced from last year. I wonder which vehicle is causing this decrease.
• Mahindra: They need to make Jawa a success, otherwise this might be the end of the line for them in the 2 wheeler market.

My guess, dispatches for FZ25 were low in Nov, Dec due to impeding launch of ABS version.

The ABS version is now launched, and a couple of dealers that I inquired about (for test drive, probable delivery time), were non-committal as they had no clear visibility of arrival of bikes. In fact, they did not have a bike for display either. And the non-ABS versions are no more available in dealer inventory.

Thus my inference is, production of FZ25 is probably low, and Yamaha is planning to fulfill demand of its volume player FZS. True picture of FZ25 will only be known 3-4 months later.

Also, there is a hike in prices by about 14K, which makes it much more expensive (by almost 20K on road). Therefore FZ25 may never return to the sales numbers level it reached before.

Yamaha sales are comparatively down last two months as well - Suzuki has pulled ahead ever so slightly.

Just wondering, what happened to the Dominar!

It started life with 10000 units per month as the target. Now it is struggling to sell even 100 units per month?
There should be a case study on this, as the Dominar is, by no means, a bad product.

Pretty soon I guess we'll see the second fuel type in the two wheeler segment with electrics picking up. Hero electric, Okinawa and Ather must've already appeared here. Or is there some reason for not featuring electrics here? Numbers wise my assumption is they sell atleast 100 a month and more than some of the other vehicles here.
