I hear you. 6kw battery would weigh 30kg. Also, 6kw would need overnight charging when trickle charged from household outlets. Having the option of rolling it indoors on wheels, or charging the battery in place would cover both types of users.

First Revolt RV 400 e-bike rolls off the production line

The first Revolt RV 400 electric bike has rolled off the production line. The motorcycle is built by Revolt Intellicorp at its Manesar plant.



The Revolt RV 400 was unveiled in June this year and more 2,500 bikes have been booked. It is available in two colour options - Rebel Red and Cosmic Black.

The RV 400 features a hexagonal headlamp with integrated LED daytime running lights. It has a digital instrument cluster with 4G connectivity. It comes with features such as Bike locator, door-step battery delivery, mobile swap stations, geo-fencing and anti-theft. A mobile app provides vital information like available range, total riding hours and real-time diagnostics.

The bike has an ARAI certified range of 156 km and has a claimed top speed of 85 km/h. It comes with a removable battery that can be recharged in 4 hours using a 15 ampere supply.

Call we pessimist, but the real world accuracy of ARAI certification for EV Range needs a quick check !! Hyundai Kona with a 30 KWh battery was rated as 430 KM which will turn to only ~ 300 KMs in real world !

So in this case the real world range could be only 90 - 100 ?

Can't wait. We don't need bikes that go 500 km initially. There'll be lot of takers for a bike that can do 50 km reliably. By the time, those orders are fulfilled, tech will improve.

I'll replace my 10 year old FZ16 as soon as I can get my hands on one of these. It never goes more than 4 km at a time.

Let's see how soon the deliveries begin! I had booked one for myself in Red Colour, to be used for short distances only around the house. Having two diesel cars (a Laura and a Compass is weighing heavy on my conscience and I am trying to reduce my carbon footprint )

If the product holds up well in terms of reliability then this can definitely be used as a regular mode for random house work around locality.
It has more than enough top speed and that range in real conditions should be over 100 kms. Even for someone with a 20 km work commute this should work.

Revolt RV400 real time estimated range is less than 50KMs? This is what I got from Zigwheels video (below screenshot). It shows 41 KMs range at 87% of battery. So at full charge the range will be ~47KMs.



Super Soco TS on which Revolt RV400 based has 1.56kWh battery. Compared to this, Ather 450 has 2.4 kWh battery. Ather advertises real world range of 55-75 KMs based on mode (eco, sport, etc...). Most users are getting at least the advertised range and many are reporting even higher range than 75 KMs for Ather. I know Revolt trying to conceal Super Soco as much as possible and showing RV400 as Indian made, but they should mention the real world range.

Also, ARAI should adopt the EPA method (USA) for EV range calculation or at least WLTP system (EU).

Revolt just launched the Revolt 400 and 300 electric 2 wheelers. These will be sold under the MyRevolt Plan. Revolt say this is a “no rental, no lease plan that offers customers full ownership from Day 1 and requires no down-payment”.

Revolt 300:

• Rs 2,999 per month x 37 months.

• This is a new low end model announced today.

• 3 modes: ECO mode with 25 kmph top speed and 180 kms range. Normal mode with 45 kmph top speed and 110 kms range and Sports mode with 65 kmph top speed and 80 kms range.

• 1.5 KW hub motor and 2.7 kWh capacity Lithium Ion battery.

• Weight is 101 kgs.

Revolt 400:

• Rs 3,499 per month x 37 months for Base model and Rs 3,999 per month x 37 months for Premium model.

• 3 modes: ECO mode with 45 kmph top speed and 150 kms range. Normal mode with 65 kmph top speed and 100 kms range and Sports mode with 80 kmph top speed and 80 kms range.

• 3 KW hub motor and 3.24 kWh capacity Lithium Ion battery.

• Weight is 108 kgs.

It takes 4.5 hours to charge battery to 100%. Bookings starts from tomorrow 11 AM. Looks like Revolt established hubs for experiencing the bikes in Delhi and Pune as per official website.

I was worried about range earlier as the battery capacity was not revealed at that time. With 2.7 kWh battery in RV300 and 3.24 kWh battery in RV400, 80KMs of range can be achieved in normal city driving. For comparison, Ather 450 has 2.4 kWh usable battery capacity.

The plans are quite interesting, no upfront payment and 3K per month for 37 months for the RV300. This is *really* very interesting.

Govt of India has announced incentives for loans taken for buying electric vehicles. May be the company is passing on this benefit to the users along
with FAME II.

I really like the plans though and may book the bike when it opens tomorrow. Hope it goes through and I get my bike before the end of the year.

While the plans are very good and innovative, i am kind off not convinced with the range in the Sports mode. I think usable range should be 120-130 kms in sports mode. For someone living in cities and commuting to work, 2-3 days of power is a must in one go. With a range of just 80 kms, people like me will have to charge the bike daily (which is a pain).

I know that Normal mode with a top speed of 65kmph should serve the purpose as that is the allowed limit in almost all cities (actually even lesser at 50kmph), but still, i would want to have some reserve speed even if i am riding at 60kmph.

Swapping batteries allows us plenty of option. Carry 2 more battery packs in your saddle bags

Swapping would mean that i will have to return my battery to get a new and charged one. Carrying 2 more batteries would mean that i need to buy 2 additional batteries which would cost a bomb. Also, let us not forget the weight of those 2 additional batteries.

But yes, i agree that if swapping stations are in plenty, the range anxiety gets taken care of. In such a case 80-100kms of range should be fine for intra city commutes. I think Revolt is doing a lot of things right which automotive Giants can only dream of.

Yes, that's not practical as the single battery unit weighs around 19kgs.
