The Imperiale 400 is a retro-styled motorcycle that was unveiled at EICMA 2017. The bike is finished in black with golden highlights. The engine and crankcase are also painted black, while the spoked wheels have a chrome finish. The bike has a round headlamp with a chrome bezel, split seats and chrome rear view mirrors. The India-spec Imperiale 400 is also likely to get a saree guard.

The Imperiale 400 is powered by a 374cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 20 BHP and 28 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Stopping power comes from 300 mm and 240 mm disc brakes at the front and rear respectively. The bike gets a 41 mm telescopic fork suspension at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

re: Benelli Imperiale 400 spotted in India, now launched @ 1.69 lakh

BikeWale reports that the launch is delayed as Benelli is targetting heavy localization for the Imperiale 400, to rival the Royal Enfield Classic series.

- Company focusing a lot on Imperiale 400

- Will benefit from heavy localisation

- Will be priced more than Royal Enfield Classic 350

Those are close to RE350 specs and price. Good looking bike, I wouldn't mind test riding to see how it feels in terms of performance, refinement and comfort.

In the video it looks like the pillion would be comfortable on this.

They get bonus points for getting a Messi look alike in the advert

Re: Benelli Imperiale 400 spotted in India, now launched @ 1.69 lakh

This one is seriously neck to neck with RE Classic 350 in terms of power/torque/weight figures! Which then makes it challenging for it make its case unless it beats the RE on the refinement and reliability quotient. Also, it isn't exactly a looker in my opinion at least.
Positives being it offers at least what RE offers at a similar price point (would have loved it even lower) and from the pictures, the riding posture seems very relaxed as well. But more options are always a good thing!

Re: Benelli Imperiale 400 spotted in India, now launched @ 1.69 lakh

I don't think it will be any competition to RE. People buy RE because it is RE and not because it is 350-500cc. I know that this segment was niche for RE but then why splendor is still highest selling when whole world (100cc) is competing with it.

Also there is no match of RE servicing capabilities. Each village, city and town in India has a mechanic who can repair RE but same would not be case with Benelli.

It might get good numbers in metros where enthusiasts want something like RE but with some exclusivity.

I don't follow bikes as much and was wondering why a brand new Benelli showroom opened up here. Reading this it now makes sense that they are expanding. I was under the assumption they only had way more expensive bikes.

Same here in Jaipur. They have placed it at a very attractive price point. Would like to see it up close soon.

Re: Benelli Imperiale 400 spotted in India, now launched @ 1.69 lakh

The media drives have already began. Embargo is till November 4th.

Motorids has released a first impression video. Quite informative.
Imperiale sounds good. The bike looks premium. The meter console, the keys and even the paint job seems to be spot on. This motorcycle has the potential to capture a pie in the retro segment. Hope that they won't ruin it by following the Jawa route.

Tough competition will turn out to be happy shopping for the end consumer.

Sounds like any other 4 Stroke (Over Stroke or Square) Single Cylinder.. doesn't have the Long Stoke Thump like the Royal Enfield Bullet/Classic.
