Hello getsurya. Enjoyed reading through the ownership review!! Now that I too bought a Jawa, hope we have a trouble free riding experience! :)
Regarding some of the concerns mentioned by you, the paint peeling off below the radiator is done purposely by the service guys to see the Min/ Max level.
The battery on my Jawa too wasn't working as expected and hence changed under warranty.

hi Arun1100, Congratulations and welcome to the club!
The coolant reservoir window can be designed better lol:
Interesting to note that your Exide battery too had the same problem! I am waiting for my warranty replacement battery.
Wonderful review, Surya.
The nostalgic pic of your grandad is priceless.
Having booked a dual channel ABS jawa 42, I'm patiently waiting for my bike, which according to the newly released Delivery Estimator on jawa website is due in mid Sept.
On talking to the dealer here, the option to take a single channel ABS for delivery in the next week is available.
Would be glad if you can share your experience with the single ABS. Does it offer sufficient grip to stop at sixty plus kmph speeds, although I know that the primary purpose of ABS is to prevent locking of the wheels.
Guess you have driven around enough by now to offer genuine advice on the matter.
Thanks. :)
The battery failure is shocking though, given that your vehicle is almost completely new. Hope you have no more problems after. Wishing you countless miles of safe and happy rides.

Hi jnpai,
Don has decent brake bite with only drum brakes, when used alone as well. In combination with the front disc ABS, I never felt uneasy on braking, rather felt confident only. Please do note, I don't zip my bike nor I intend to do triple digit speeds on highways, so suits my usage perfectly.
I know the battery issue was not nice, but can't rule out defects with these machines.
Congrats!. I can deduce from the comments that you are satisfied with the bike. Looking at the photos , you could easily pass off a new Jawa for an old one. I see that you have removed the baffles for louder sound. Does it now have the " Jawa beat"?. Some one was mentioning ( probably in another thread) that the front exhaust pipes are purely ornamental. Is that so ?.
Quite an entertaining thread :) Sad to see few niggles with the quality, hopefully they will change everything under warranty until they get it right!

Hi Srini,
I'm very happy with Don. The 2 stroke original Jawa beat cannot be replicated on these 4 strokes.
The exhaust pipes are not ornamental and have full function for both. The way they go in and out of the converter, is where the 2 inch or so space is empty in the front portion of the pipes.
Curious to know, are there any rust spots visible in your Jawa?

Hi Arun,
Touchwood, not any rust spots, except for the chain. The bike was out in the rain with a thin cover on it.
Hello, just checking in, how's the bike now? Any further issues? I'm planning to buy the classic, and was wondering if you have a list of peeves by now?

Hi Sridutt, if I can reply being a Classic owner, I just finished 1000 kms of riding my Jawa. The major issues I have faced till now are
1. Battery issue which was changed under warranty.
2. Faulty lambda sensor issue which is causing the check engine light to glow always while riding. The service centre guys are not having stock of the sensor which has to be changed under warranty.
Other than these issues, the bike is pretty good. :thumbs up My office is in M.G road, you can have a look at the bike if you can come to this part of the city.:)

Awesome! kind of you.. I got tired of hopping on the right foot and have started on the left one now.. February delivery. And, yes, very heartening to hear that you have no issues.
I also wanted to check if you have a manual? I just can't seem to find it online? if you could share that, it'll be great. They have content on the site, but nothing on the rpm range between which peak power and torque come up, nothing on the light specifications etc.
Also, can't remember which review, but one did mention the suspension bottoming out and the bottom touching larger speed breakers with a pillion rider. Did you experience this?

Hi Sridutt,
Don is doing good and has me looking forward to always going for a ride.
Improvement areas for Don:
1. Seat can be made better comfortable
2. Handlebar grips tend to tire me out soon, don't know if it is me who has lost touch with riding for a long time
3. Wiring and other minor finishing can be better
4. Neutral gear kicking in between the change from 1st to 2nd, again don't know if it is my learning curve issue
Let me also provide a quick update on Don.
Don went in for baffle rod modification to increase the exhaust note and feels nice at higher rev range.
The dealership was kind enough to change my luggage accessory which got slightly bent, at free of cost.
I also got the side stand indicator module installed. Good investment of Rs. 500 for the safety it offers. When the side stand is on, the engine just doesn't fire up!
I also got a basic pair of Led spot lights installed as Proof of concept and would upgrade, if required in the future.
I had a mobile phone holder installed as well, that has a USB charging port for the phone or accessories. I got a removable wiring clip installed to make it easy for detaching the mobile holder, when parked.
Some pictures for your viewing pleasure!!
Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.
That mobile holder, removable, is useful.. where'd you pick it up from? also, would you have the manual? and does the bike bottom out for you with a pillion?

Bike holder is a basic one from Amazon, Autofy brand. Bike, at times does bottom out with a heavy pillion rider.
Manual of the mobile holder?
