KTM 250 Adventure, launched at Rs. 2.48 lakhs

According to a media report, KTM is working on a 250cc Adventure for India. It is expected to be positioned below the 390 Adventure, which is yet to be revealed officially.

The KTM 250 Adventure is likely to feature styling that is typical to the brand's Adventure range of bikes. It could get a halogen headlight instead of an LED unit. It might also miss out on the full-colour digital instrument cluster.

The report states that the 250 Adventure is expected to be powered by a BS-VI compliant engine, which is believed to be an updated version of the 250cc unit that powers the 250 Duke. At present, the 250 Duke is powered by a 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 30 BHP and 24 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The 250 Adventure is also likely to get a revised suspension setup and different sized wheels at the front and rear.

re: KTM 250 Adventure, launched at Rs. 2.48 lakhs

So much KTM buzz in the last few days. Duke 790 imminent lunch, 390 adventure spotted testing (several times now), 790 adventure spotted (probably just someone from Austria touring in India) and now this.

Hope this is just not a rumour. The 390 adventure will be launched at a premium to the D390 which leaves just the Himalayan as an option for people looking to get an ADV below 2 lakhs. The Duke 250 ADV can just decimate the Himalayan as it will be built much better than the shabby ADV from RE.

This also shows the product strategy of KTM in India. They want to cater to the mass market and offer value for money good quality products. A lot of people, including me, keep crying for KTM not launching their big bikes in India but when a brand sets an image of a value-for-money offerings, it's hard to sell high priced bikes specially when they look very similar.

KTM 250 Adventure India launch slated for mid-2020

KTM 250 Adventure, launched at Rs. 2.48 lakhs-ktm250adventure.jpg
The 250 Adventure will feature a lot of hardware from the higher-displacement 390 Adventure sibling, but with the same powertrain as the 250 Duke.

According to the report, KTM is prepping up to launch the bike in India in mid-2020.

Further according to the report, upcoming 250 Adventure will act as the new entry-point for the manufacturer’s adventure bike line-up. It looks identical to the 390 Adventure, sharing the same chassis and body panels. The fuel tank, extensions, radiator shroud, belly pan and tail-section also appear to be the same. What's different is the use of a halogen headlamp instead of the full-LED setup on the 390 and the 250-specific paintwork, just as we’ve seen with the 250 and 390 Dukes.

From the looks of it, the 250 Adventure and alloy wheels are the same as the 390 Adventure. The specs also revealed that KTM has also gone with an identical 100/90-19 front and 130/80-17 rear-wheel size. However, we could expect to see the 250 to sport different tyres. The website also revealed that just like the India-spec KTM 390 Adventure, the 250 Adventure too, uses a non-adjustable 43mm USD fork and a pre-load adjustable monoshock.

In terms of electronics, the 250 Adventure only gets off-road ABS and seems to get the same TFT display as its elder sibling. Right now, it remains to be seen whether the aid of a quickshifter will carry forward from the 390 ADV.

Like the 390 Adventure, the KTM 250 Adventure is powered by the same engine from its street naked sibling, the 250 Duke, which is the 248.8cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine making 30hp and 24Nm of torque. We expect the bike's gearing to be similar as well.

KTM dealerships are unofficially accepting bookings for the upcoming 250 Adventure that is scheduled to go on sale next week for a token amount of Rs 1, 000-5,000. It will be sold in two colours - orange and black and deliveries will begin as early as end of October.

The thread seems not heating up enough.

As I understand, the dealer demo has been completed and TD / demo bikes are being dispatched. Hopefully we start seeing bikes at the dealerships in 2 weeks.

re: KTM 250 Adventure, launched at Rs. 2.48 lakhs

Don't know where to post this and surely not enough to create a dedicated thread so posting this year. If it does not fit may I please request someone to move it to a more relevant thread.

Was on my early morning bike ride. Weather early morning turning foggy with the beginning of the hint of a winter chill in Poona past few days.

On the bypass returning from Dehu Road to Chandani Chowk, under one of the overheads somewhere ahead of Balewadi I see a number of bikers clustered underneath, hazard lights on.

When I get closer I see that the bikes have red number plates with white lettering. Means they are test machines.

There was a supervisor type giving instructions to the riders. The way they were dressed, they were test riders of Bajaj and not lay public bikers. You can make out corporate factory types on job even with helmets and fancy bikes.

The bikes were all KTM's. All RCs.

Some of them had modified silencers (with the naked internals without the end cans). A couple if them were without the side fairing cowls. There was one with the full fairing and it had 125 decals on its side.

I ride ahead and maybe 5 minutes later the entire group ride past me.

Cheers, Doc

re: KTM 250 Adventure, launched at Rs. 2.48 lakhs

KTM 250 Adv reaches showrooms. Am kinda disappointed with the black & white display and the halogen headlights. Screams 'budget'. If the reports of the safety bits missing in this, guess I'd rather get the 390 and enjoy the additional power + features for an extra ~50K.

I guess we are at a stage where the media is turning on the KTM baby adventure motorcycles, both India and abroad. Was watching a video yesterday where a North Devon based outfit was giving offroad test rides of ADV 390, 310GS, CRF 250L and Himalayan to customers and reported that the customers preferred the KTM the least!

'Duke with higher handlebars' is a sentiment getting echoed more and more. Plus the 250 never got the fancy of the Indian market - sandwiched in pricing between the 200 and 390.

Not very surprising that the 250ADV hasn't created a hype leading up to the launch.

Part reality.

Part junta lashing out at a half baked product on the back of pretty shameless price creep.
