Ather Energy has confirmed on social media that the Ather 340 has been discontinued. The company claims that 99% of its customers prefer the Ather 450 and has said that they will focus on scaling up production of this variant.

The Ather 340 used a Brushless DC electric motor (BLDC) with a peak output of 6 BHP and 20 Nm. The scooter is claimed to accelerate from 0-40 km/h in 5.1 seconds. It came with a 1.92 kWh battery pack and offered a maximum range of 86 km on a single charge.

Re: Ather 340 discontinued

340 never made sense anyway, with a small variance in price and a disproportionately large variance in specs compared to the 450.

Ather is already an expensive proposition compared to other electric scooters and those who buy it, do so because they appreciate the technology behind it. These customers are quite unlikely to try and save a few thousand and settle down for an inferior spec machine.

Re: Ather 340 discontinued

Looks like 340 was meant to keep the entry-barrier(sticker-price) low and the company's actual focus from the beginning was on selling 450. Much like how car companies introduce bare-bones variants which rarely sells owing to the lack of necessary features, even if one is interested to buy these variants the dealers will not show interest in selling them.
