I need to source this for a scooter abroad. Where can I source one either in Bangalore on on-line. Will a later Bajaj 220 unit fit ? (looks identical externally)

CDI's can be interchanged provided;

1. They're of the same type i,e AC or DC.
2. Connectors match.

Not sure about the 2nd part, but for the 1st I believe its highly unlikely that a Chetak would come with DC CDI as the comparatively latest variant the 4S Champion also came with a AC CDI.

Hence it would be best to rule out the Pulsar's CDI as its DC.

As for AC CDI, here's the one on my Bajaj CT100B;

Couldn't find a better picture as the CT100B isn't with me at the moment.

To add to what @ashwinprakas has already said, CDI's being contact less, a lot depends on the rpm of the engines. The advance of firing depends on the trigger pulse that the alternator produces. So to find a alternate CDI for a now discontinued bike, you need to check if the replacement CDI is from a bike of the comparable rpm. Most 100cc bike CDI's are interchangeable as they have comparable idle and peak rpms. However for high revving engines, the CDi's would be different.

For Chetak, you can go ahead with Varroc Part Number BJ15 or Uno Minda Part Number CD-1028.
