For me,its Yamaha RX100 (although RD 350 will always hold a special place in my heart, but it was not for masses) and LML Vespa Select (although the poll doesn't cover it) because I learnt to ride on that scooter .

The first ever automobile I drove was my dad's Bajaj Cub. The 2nd bike I drove was Suzuki Shaolin and the bike blew me as a kid So I voted for Shaolin

Re: Which is the most iconic 2-stroke motorcycle of India?

It has to be RD 350.

Scary acceleration. Scary breaking.

Sweet 2 pot sound, even at idle.

Sure, RX was more successful. but the RD350 is iconic.

Its the Kinetic Honda.

Attachment 1926909

We had one in the family from 1996 till 2012. Originally intended for my mother, ultimately she stopped using it and my father used it as his primary scooter. I learnt riding in this. The initial acceleration is something I haven't seen in any other scooter yet. A Suzuki Access 125 did replace it in 2012 but I still miss the vehicle. It was sort of an icon in our family and neighborhood both for its sound and obsolescence.

In fact, mid 2000s onwards, I used to argue with my father for its replacement with a newer vehicle. My father used to tell me that Kinetic Honda was a record holder in various forums. Little did I know he was right.

Quoting a post regarding the records from our forum itself, since I am unable to relocate the source which I had found years back.

My KH is still alive and kicking, after 23.5 years, with minimal maintenance. The ride is not road legal though, thanks to not having renewed the RC and hence insurance - haven't gotten around getting that done!

Re: Which is the most iconic 2-stroke motorcycle of India?

Voted for Yamaha RX100.

Yamaha RD 350 was talk of the town in "those days" but RX100 changed it all.

Fortunately, I have owned 2 bikes from top three (according to this poll) - RX100 (1992-93) and Suzuki Shogun (1993-96) and absolutely loved them. Memories are still fresh in my mind.

That's iconic! How did he cross the Sahara Desert on a scooter? Abysmal mileage aside, the Kinetic Honda did play its role well. Look forward to seeing more pictures

Re: Which is the most iconic 2-stroke motorcycle of India?

THE real iconic bike of that era was the Yamaha RD 350. Next was the Yamaha RX 100. Iconic need not be the most popular or largest selling. If one applies that yardstick the Hero Honda will beat anything else on two wheels! Iconic is something that people look up to, aspire to own. The RD 350 was such a bike, hands down. It was the most powerful of the lot, a rocket on wheels, an enigma!

I would stick my neck out and say a lot of people who could not afford it at that time, settled for the RX 100, the second best.

Re: Which is the most iconic 2-stroke motorcycle of India?

I voted for the Yamaha RX 135(5-Speed), but that was out of love for my Loyal Steed since 25 Jun 2001, she never let me down till date. But heart of hearts, I would say that the RD 350 and the RX 100 deserve to be called iconic. I can never forget the yamaha advertisement that had the Top Gun theme music and an Rx 100 racing with a fighter. Both of them were actually my first love. I dont give up on love so easily, hence tried my best to become a fighter pilot, couldn't,, so got commissioned as an Army Officer,, and started collecting money to buy an RX. Needless to say, managed to collect 52000 bucks from my measly salary in around a year and a half and marched into the Yamaha showroom with cash, to buy the other love. Naturally, by then the RX 100 was no longer in production, so bought the next best thing, and better, if I dare say so,, My RX 135 (5(5-Speed). Taken my bike to every place possible, snow, deserts, beaches, rocky places, mountains, slush,, and till date,, her heart beats with a reassuring roar! Will never sell the bike till my dying day!!

This is sheer perfection. It's like you took a time-machine ride back to the day or something. Totally overwhelming sight, this. Where did you get it done and how much did it pinch your pocket?

Happy to see my baby, Kawasaki KB100 RTZ first in the list, albeit just alphabetically. The engine was butter smooth. And ofcourse the response of a 2 stroke is just bliss!

Got it done with my known RX mechanic at Jayanagar 3rd block. Restoring time was 3 months and spent 80k. I bought it almost 4.5 years back and was just lying in the garage and last year got it done. Sparingly use it as the documents are pending to be done. Once done will use it more.
