I wonder why Honda suddenly decided to drop the "Shine" branding. The Honda Shine is too well-known in the commuter bike segment and has a very good reputation for being refined and highly reliable.

Even I was wondering about this. If I'm not wrong, the erstwhile Shine was 4 speed, and Shine SP was 5 speed. Maybe now they will keep only this version and sunset the 4 speed Shine.

Cheers,
Vikram

In pictures it looks like a love child of Livo and Shine SP with a headlamp borrowed from Hornet 160. But this has many firsts for a Honda, it now comes with an Engine Kill switch which is integrated into the Start button, pass key integrated into low beam/high beam switch and comes with a 3 year standard warranty. I hope Honda will be bringing all these equipment to all the BS6 variants of their motorcycles.

Happy to note that the power has actually gone up by 0.5 Horse power.
In the wake of manufacturers taking the easy way out to meet BS6, by detuning the engine, this is a pleasant move by Honda.

This TBH. They should have called this bike Shine SP BS6 instead. The Shine name attracted a lot of buyers in the past. If they discontinue the Shine moniker, they'll be losing out customers. They should use this motor on the CB Shine as well and keep the aesthetics same.

Re: Honda SP 125 BS6 launched at Rs. 72,900

I remember when I first saw the ad of this Honda SP 125, I kind of fumbled and had to read the text twice or thrice as if I missed the word 'Shine' and indeed it was missing.

In another note, most manufacturers are continuing their well-known product names (like Bajaj recently launched Pulsar 125cc, pile of Splendor/Passion and their different variants), Honda is kind of killing their well-known product name 'Shine' which apparently has better sales figures than 'Dream' series.
