With a week to go for the launch, the new 450X has been spied doing what looks like an Ad shoot.
Design wise it is same as 450 as expected from a 'variant'. Of the many possible colours, these pictures confirm that there will be a Matte black shade.

Love the Matte Black shade. Looks like they took care of atleast one common user complaint related to the lack of color options :-)
I am looking forward to this, i have got a booking open for 450, not going through with it till I know what 450x brings. Hopefully, it will be:
1. bigger battery even a KWh bump is enough
2. slightly powerful motor
3. Bluetooth connection
4. 4G Sim
5. Better mirrors, hate the current one.
I am passing up on the 450X offer. Sharing my codes here.
Code 1
UPB5FG
Code 2
BPSDSA
Placed the order for a 450X. Here is the second invite:
ZICQ68
With less than 24 hours to go before the 450x is unveiled, here is a teaser from Ather today
http://youtu.be/_8ZPmhBJxWE
One thing is clear from this teaser (apart from the matte black shade). There will be a Dark mode of the dashboard. It was high time they came with this as the white dashboard is irritating in the dark. Hope they also give this to the normal 450. Also from this teaser it looks like Bluetooth will be available now. Another thing I notice on the bottom left is that there will be 2 modes on the 450x instead of 3 currently on the 450.
Previous teasers have more or less confirmed it to run on Android and Snapdragon processor

How is the launch going on? Any info on the pricing/ upgrades?

Ather Energy has launched the much-awaited 450X electric scooter at a starting price of Rs 99,000, ex-sh. It is offered in two trims of Plus and Pro. Before the introduction of the Ather 450X, the Bangalore-based EV start-up had a single-product portfolio in the form of the Ather 450. The company initially planned to start off with two products: Ather 340 and Ather 450. The low demand for the former made Ather Energy make a logical decision to continue with just the 450 model.
Coming to the Ather 450X, Ather Energy terms it as a ‘Super Scooter’. As the name suggests, it is essentially an improved and loaded version of the familiar Ather 450 and gets a substantial bump in range and output figures. With its launch, Ather Energy has also marked its debut in eight more cities (Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Cochin, Kolkata, Coimbatore and Ahmedabad) in addition to Bangalore and Chennai.
The development of the 450X started with an all-new 2.9kW battery pack that has better power and energy density, to give a certified range of 116km (on-road range: 85km). Output figures have gone up to 6KW (about 8bhp) and 26Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Ather 450 boasts of 5.4kW (7.25bhp) and 20.5Nm. The Ather 450X is significantly lighter as well (by 10kg) at 108kg.
The Ather 450X also gets a new riding mode — Warp — in addition to Eco and Power. In Warp mode, the e-scooter performs way better. 0-60km/h sprint can be done in just 6.50 seconds; making the Ather 450X, the quickest scooter on the market, regardless of the power plant. Charging times have also gone by a whopping 50% (1km/min to 1.5km/min).
With the 450X, the company has opened doors to an open-source Android development platform for coding and UI/UX enthusiasts. Owing to this, the touchscreen instrument cluster will get even more class-leading features in the future. Finally, the company has introduced 3 colour schemes: Grey/Yellow and Green/Orange, in addition to the familiar White/Green shade.

From what I gathered from the Live Launch, the price isnt 99k.
Its 99k Plus the Variant Subscription you opt for so 1699 or 1999 per month.
Out-right it was 1,49,000 and 1,59,000 ex-showroom
Ather is asking for too much of a premium for minor improvements. Disappointed with the pricing.
On-road price will be at least 1.55 Lakhs for Plus and 1.65 Lakhs for Pro.
I am cancelling my pre-order.
Only appealing news was unlimited warranty on battery.
What all is included in the subscription packages?
Can the scooter be had without the packages?
Are the other scooters like chetak offered with similar benefits as the packages in the Ex-showroom price which they are offered with?
Can the scooter be bought in cities where Ather doesn't have presence?

Their website will be updated by 2 PM, so should have all the details.
But primarily, the differences in subscription is the mode to which the motor switches to / operates at.
The scooter can be had without the package option, but comes at a really steep price IMHO.
99k is the Downpayment and then the subscription plans on top.
With regards to their city expansion roadmap, they just stated the numbers in their presentation, but did not elaborate which cities and what timeline.

Just to add to the other posters, this model will have a 4G sim instead of a 3G which is a good thing. Also, I think it was a clever packing by offering the bike at 99K and then forcing the user to buy a pack. I really feel that, this nascent industry needs Government support to make it affordable and increase the adoption. They touted that the battery warranty was infinite and want to understand the fine print of that claim.
