Nice looking scooter! Much more proportional than the Burgman Street!

Looking forward to this launch!

Hope others join Suzuki and Aprilia. It's time we move over the Activas and the likes in 110-125cc segment.
But one thing that bothers me in this scooter is the wheel size, why don't they give the same ones from the SR150? Atleast it doesnt look so odd like the Burgman.

True..it looks so much proportional than the obese Burgman. Even then this is a little too much front heavy for my liking. The open rear portion isn't looking that great. But the 160cc engine should be nice to ride (from a scooter perspective).

Hope this one has ABS, which strangely has been ignored by all scooter manufacturers (no, I don't mean the CBS masquerading as a safety feature)

Really look forward to a long and spacious scooter with good proportions to replace my '06 Kinetic Blaze

From April 1, 2019, the regulations make it mandatory for any manufacturer to fit ABS on any 2 wheeler above 125cc. So this must come with an ABS.

For two wheelers below 125cc CBS(combi braking system) is mandatory and ABS is optional.

SR150 (discontinued after BS6) and SR160 BS6 both have ABS. The 160 variant costs 1.42 to 1.52K OTR Bangalore. This variant might add another 10K to price (at the very least).

The scooter seems to have LONG telescopic suspension at the front and the spring-loaded hydraulic suspension at the back, so this might take care of the back on those never-ending daily commutes. I am looking for an automatic scooter/bike in 150 to 250CC with a good suspension. Will check this out in flesh and decide.

Absolutely gorgeous. Because I was waiting for these kind of big scooters in Indian market which can play the dual role as a city cruiser and also as a highway commuter. If the range is promising, then it would definitely fetch a lot of bookings and mine would be one too.

Absolutely in love with the scooter, might book one next year !

One of the reasons why Japanese bike makers are not bringing their maxi-scooters in India is probably because they have a potential to reduce market share of 150-160cc bikes drastically, but Aprilia does not stand anything to lose as they dont have bikes in their portfolio here. I am all game for such scooters, they can keep me and wife happy !

Re: Piaggio unveils Aprilia SXR 160 & SXR 125 at Auto Expo 2020

I've started using the Grazia to work to cut down on travel time. With the hopeless infra in Pune and the evergreen Metro construction causing bottlenecks everywhere, a scooter is the right solution.
Me and wifey travel to the same part of the town and being on the healthy side, tilt the scales to around 160 kg. The Grazia gasps and labors to get to decent speeds and I've been waiting for something like this. Maybe 200-250 cc with around 16 bhp and comfortable seating would have made me put my money on the table right away...
Wake up guys...I'm sure the market is very much there

I don't really agree. Most of them already package multiple packaging of similar products to keep the customer in the show room so there is already cross cannibalising which they are fine with. If this cannibalising moves to a more premium bigger scooter that's only better. Bigger more premium scooter pulling some market share means bigger margins collected from same customer.

Unofficial booking have apparently started. Official launch might be next week or so.

Thanks for that update. Is there any indication of what is the likely mark-up over the SR 160?

The SR in BS 6 hasn't exactly done well - its significant 2020 price hike clearly wasn't well received. I am hoping that will keep Piaggio sensible in pricing the maxi sensibly. With the SR 160 retailing at 1.36L (+/-) I'd struggle to accept an on road price of over 1.5L for the maxi.

In Mumbai, the other off putting thing about Piaggio is its pathetic dealer coverage, specially if one is based in South Mumbai. The closest dealer is all way out in Andheri East.
