One plastic notch of the windscreen is sitting out of its groove and no matter what the KTM showroom guys tried, couldn't remove the windscreen from its base so as to fix it back.

Would appreciate if anyone could help me out here
Which tyres are fitted on the new bike ? I'm read somewhere that the Metzelers are back.

A friend of mine took delivery of the 390 Adventure from KTM Langford in the last week. He says that the bike was delivered with the Metzeler Tourance tires so I think they are indeed back.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

Went for a quick ride again today (Vandri View Point). Was supposed to be a lake side chilling session, but parked it where the bike felt more happy.

Is anyone facing any issue with the speedometer flickering? Has anyone had this issue and has got it fixed? Check image below (vignette effect):

I am told that if the console heats up too much, this happens.
The speedo doesn't look like this at all times, but when it does, I just hate looking at it.
Have been riding with this issue for a while now, and my next service is due this month.
If anyone has any solution to this, please let me know...

Which version of software bike is running? I came to know from the Bangalore group that there has been two updates released specifically for the screen issue. I need to get my 3rd service done soon and will get more info then.

Also planning to take the extended warranty and move to Addinol 10W 50 oil.

Bike is consuming oil and now after just 1100 kms after last change, there is no oil in the window. Bike has to be tilted atleast by 10-15 degree to get any sense of oil inside through the window. Will meassure at drain once more. But seems to be a know issue with KTM saying upto 70 ml per 1000 kms is fine.

Same, my service is due within a week now.
Sadly, the service centre in my area is short on consumables (No oil filter, air filter or fuel filter).

Will be going to the Andheri outlet when time permits.
Will check for this software update.

Got the 3rd service done today, though the bike had done hardly 3200 km in total and 1200 kms since 2nd service, since date wise it was getting lapsed next week. As usual, the Indira Nagar team under Manju did a good job.

- Washed clean
- Filter is K&N so just tapped it and blew some mild air, after cleaning the box
- Chain slack adjusted, cleaned, and lubed (I had the putolin chain spray with me and used that)
- Engine oil drained and measured. Yes, there is consumption (Image attached) and I shared it with our regional service head too.
- Brake pads cleaned
- Software updated to 1.09

The software update has fixed the issue of the quick select key defaulting to trip meter that came with the last update. Now as per my liking both the ABS and MTC controls stays with quick selector 1&2. But another good difference that is noticed with this update is that the quick shifter has become super smooth and consistent in upshifts (I have ridden only 6 kms till now). We had not even done the adaptation for quick shifter and this is a GREAT update!

At around 2000 kms when I had reported oil issue, KTM folks had drained the engine oil and measured it. I insisted on filling with new oil then and had put in 1.65 L of Motul 7100. Now it is 3190 kms, that is about 1190 kms since the change and this is what we measured. 1400 give take another 50 also it is 1450 ml, which means 200 ml has burned in just 1190 kms and that too mostly easy city traffic where I was clocking 30-32 Kmpl consistent Fuel economy. Yes, I tend to redline it occasionally and love to ride it hard. Still 200 ml actual Vs 70 ml normal figure is little alarming.

Oh by the way KTM has now revised the refill quantity from 1650 to 1700 ml for oil and filter change. Good move, infact I had suggested the same when we had the meeting with the tech team. So instead of oil level dropping close to min after a 5 km ride, now it has settled closer to max level.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

I have filled in 500 ml to bring the oil to the line drawn in the middle of the sight glass almost after 3000 kms of hard riding from bangalore to arunachal pradesh.

Carrying a little oil and checking levels every 2500 kms is now mandatory on cross country trips.

I expect to top up again shortly.

Re: The KTM 390 Adventure Ownership Thread!

As per the service manual, the oil grade suggested is 15W/50.

Confirmed with the Thane KTM service outlet, that the oil being used by them is 10W/50.

Anyone has any clarity why this is being done?
Has anyone switched to any other oil, not using the brands refill packs?

15w50 is globally recommended and is what i am using. I use Amsoil from the first service.

10w50 is india recommended because motul doesn't have a 15w50 i think.

KTM has globally moved out from motul to motorex. Since Bajaj handles KTM in india, Bajaj is continuing its partnership with motul and hence 10w50.

Both are good and are not a problem for your engine.

What's your review on Amsoil, heard rave reviews from many.
Motul 5100 15W50 is available, using it on my Himalayan with Polytron additive.

I have used it on my Continental GT 535 for a couple of oil changes. Link.

Compared to the Motul's premium fully synthetic offerings, this offers say 80-90% of the performance but at 75-80% of the price.

The event took place in the Spiti Valley, with the stage beginning in Batal and ending in Kunzam La, 551-metres higher, 12.5km and 20 turns away. The KTM was being ridden by Dakar hopeful for 2022 Ashish Raorane, while his challenger, driving a custom-built rally raid 4x4, was Suresh Rana. The bike had 43bhp, knobbly tyres and, well that seems to be about it. The rally raid off-roader was putting out a reported 160bhp and was tailor-made to take part in the Himalayan Rally.
